In the film Back to the Future, Marty McFly gets his hands on a pair of futuristic sneakers that can lace and tighten themselves. In 2011, Nike auctioned off replicas of these sneakers, Nike MAGs, on eBay to benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research. As close to accurate as they were, they still weren’t able to replicate the power laces that were seen in the film.

According to Sole Collector, that technology won’t actually become available until next year. Designer Tinker Hatfield has confirmed that power laces will become a reality in 2015.

Eh..........................

Never understood the point of the pumped up kicks.

I'm no baller so maybe I just don't get it, but I thought that was what laces were for.

LOL, it is. The pump was a fad. All it did was tighten the tongue of the shoe, LA gear ripped off the pump idea too.

Pumped around the ankle as well. It pumped in three areas. But, it caused more ankle injuries than a regular sneaker and was dropped. There may have even been lawsuits.

I remember it just being the tongue...maybe that was the LA Gear Regulator lol.
