I agree with that, but if this kid can get into Sony's servers like this, and this is legit, this is a massive security breach again.People have way too much time on their hands.
Steam never went offline.
C'mon, eVo.....

This.WOW....not sure what is worse, Sony getting breached again or these people thinking this is some big and clever thing to accomplish.
If this is another security breach, then no, this hasn't happened to Live also.This.
And yes, it's happened to Xbox as well, MS just doesn't go around announcing when they get attacked.
For crying out loud, they even have a page saying that when you can't connect, it could be due to a DDOS attack. For the record, in the past 8 years, there have been several times I can't connect, and the past few weeks, quite often, I get messages when I log into Live that some services are not up. How do we know what's a DDOS attack or not if MS doesn't announce it? Anyone thinking it doesn't happen to MS is deluding themselves.

This isn't a security breach, it's a DDOS attack. It's an attempt to overload the service by bombarding it with massive amounts of traffic. Like someone else here said, it's no different than when a site goes down due to too many people trying to access it....like how many Big Brother sites go down when the first show starts.
That's different than a security breach. And yes, DDOS attacks have happened to Xbox.
Again, just because they don't make massive announcements, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

If the tweets above are to be believed, this isn't just a DDOS.
Check the famedgod guys tweets.
He did absolutely ddos attack MS as well, but he didn't take the entire service down for the entire day with the attack.
The guys results from the attack are in intellivisions post above, that second tweet. The actual effect last night was intermittent services issues on an absolutely minor scale for XBL. In fact I was playing Diablo 3 last night with no issues, though some did report issues. My wife didn't have a single problem at all throughout the rest if the day.
So yes, you are correct, MS doors get cyber attacks; considering how much hate the company gets, it's probably all day, everyday. They just have their s*** together out at least moreso than Sony. The famedgod guy mentioned in one of his tweets that Sony was operating off of a single data center via Amazon's cloud service.
But that's heresay, we don't know if it's anything more than a DDOS attack. If it is, then so be it, but as of right now, officially, it's a DDOS attack.I know what a DDOS attack is.

Sony Online President's Flight Diverted After Hacker Bomb Threat
http://kotaku.com/sony-online-presidents-flight-diverted-after-hacker-bom-1626249376
American Airlines has diverted a flight carrying the president of Sony Online Entertainment following what may have been a bomb threat by a group of alleged hackers—the same group that has claimed responsibility for a series of outages across the PlayStation Network and other gaming services this weekend.
The FBI is currently investigating the incident, an SOE representative told Kotaku today.
This afternoon at around 1:30pm Eastern, the group Lizard Squad tweeted at American Airlines to say that a flight carrying John Smedley, president of SOE, the developer behind EverQuest Next among other games, had "explosives on-board."
Xbox has been done in the past, and for more than just a couple of hours. Again, just because it's not announced, doesn't mean it doesn't happen, and their site even tells you, that if you can't get on, it's probably due to DDOS attack.

As for being able to play on D3 on XB1, people were also able to get into PS4, and many even said what they did to be able to get on (turning off network connection, resetting router, etc).
But that's heresay, we don't know if it's anything more than a DDOS attack. If it is, then so be it, but as of right now, officially, it's a DDOS attack.
Mini power trip. He/they will definitely pay for it.well those hackers or hacker are borderline r******d. this will land their ass in jail or the FBI or homeland busting down their door.
Doing some BS to company's servers is one thing and you can get away with it but making a bomb threat yeah WTF was the person thinking.
It's a security breach because one kid said so and it happened to Sony. DDOS never happened to MS if you're far enough in denial.Xbox has been done in the past, and for more than just a couple of hours. PSN working yet? The last time this happened pretty much single handedly killed the SOCOM series.
PSN didn’t work for me at all on Sunday.
I didn’t think it could get worse than those who tried to defend Sony for making the decision for them and everyone else in not allowing EA Access on Playstation platforms. But you guys have sunk even lower by defending Sony for a network outage. Its pathetic and hilarious at the same time.
