A COLLECTION OF THE FIRST TWO ARKHAM ON NEXT-GEN CONSOLES!

The short story that follows(a real scoop ...) will please all fans of the famous masked bat: according to reliable sources of IGN Italy, we anticipate that for next Christmas comes a collection of remastered HD two Arkham console next gen.

Yes, you read right, we are talking of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, to enjoy the next generation consoles. What do you think?Would like us to play again? But above all, you have already played?

Cool,I guess. Don't really feel like trudging thru those games again, though.

I would like this. And please include all of the PhysX too! That PhysX really adds to the immersion.

I played through the first two and loved them. That being said, I don't think I'd pay to go back and play them.

Same. Great games but I don't see the point. The new Batman game looks to be those games and more. It's not like there is some continuous story or anything.

Each game is a self contained episode, and they are similar enough that I can't see how the new one won't completely scratch that itch

Won't happen, the PhysX effects are hardware driven and that is a Nvidia propietary technology.

Actually NVIDIA already announced PhysX support for PS4 and Xbox One so it is totally possible for this to happen.

Yes, but not nearly to the degree of the hardware effects in the Arkham PC series. Software PhysX has been on consoles forever even since before they were owned by Nvidia and were owned by Ageia

I know these consoles aren't exactly all-powerful, but AMD and Square did manage to get that very demanding TressFX running very well in Tomb Raider. So i don't see why NVIDIA can be a software guru as always and get their PhysX running on the consoles.

They used TressFX 2.0 which is much less demanding, and there are other things missing from Tomb Raider Console ver that allowed them that performance to push TressFX, for example there is no tessellation in the console version of Tomb Raider. The thing is that NVIDIA hardware accelerated PhysX is PC and Nvidia only, TressFX is not a proprietary tech and is really, DirectCompute driven on PC atleast.

Interesting. I may pick it up. I've beaten all three games but I wouldn't mind playing again.

TressFX 2.0 was less demanding because it was better optimized, right? NVIDIA can do the same if they want to I'm sure. But when did NVIDIA say that hardware-accelerated physics won't be brought over to consoles? They don't have to keep it exclusive to PC if they don't want to, especially now that they are kicked out of the console market on the hardware side.

What are they not remastering from last gen? I can't get enough Batman so i won't complain though. I'll pick it up for the Xbox One.

But where did they say they were?

Like I said, software PhysX has been on consoles forever, they're not going to bring their hardware accelerated tech to AMD powered consoles, they just won't,

Because I am a HUGE Dark Knight fan, I'd take all three games. Besides, its only right considering how well they would go with the Dark Knight trilogy movies. I would then create a holiday where I enjoy ALL things Batman, where I watch all three movies and play all three games in my favorite batman socks and pajamas. That night, I'd go out in my Dark Knight costume and kick major ass to all those young punk teenagers on their motorized skateboards that scream through my neighborhood at 2am in the morning.

Oh my! I'm getting a woody!

So you don't know it and i don't know it. That is all that is. But I see it being very likely that NVIDIA will taking advantage of the hardware-acceleration capabilities of these next gen consoles; because if they don't, they will be boycotted and bypassed completely for not making their tech take full advantage of the consoles.

I'm sure Nvidia couldn't care less if they're boycotted by console kiddies as that isn't their market target anyway.

I don't see why they can't just implement an AMD equivalent to the PhysX physics. They were cool and all, but not something that couldn't be done on the consoles. Hell, I had PhysX enabled effects on my GTX 470, and it doesn't have phys X hardware for Batman Origins. It had all the features shown in the PhysX hardware demos.

it was till MS and Sony give them the boot. After that happened they started to talk s*** about consoles.

Console kiddies? Well I guess NVIDIA really doesn't care about consoles since they are only really bringing PhysX over to see it fail. And they intend to make sure their tech runs as inefficiently as possible on consoles. I'm really not gonna argue that any further if that is really what you feel inclined to believe. It's on you if you don't like the idea of PhysX coming over the consoles.

For the 100th time, PhysX has been on consoles for over 10 years.

You have 0 idea what you're talking about.

The Ageia PhysX PPU has been discontinued and dead for almost a decade, when Nvidia acquired Ageia they gave the ability to any CUDA video card to be able to do hardware level physx. That started with the 8xxx series.

You can run these hardware physx effects on CPU but it's extremely slow and basically unplayable. Software PhysX has been on consoles and PCs forever, however it was when the Ageia PPU came out that they started to push these effects big time

Enlighten me then? I just remember that when I bought my card, they were still selling separate physics hardware and pushing them in advertising when I got my 470( which was the first hardware that supported DX11 natively, I believe). I am well aware that you don't need dedicated physics hardware to do physics (obviously).

I was just saying that we don't have to have dedicated physics processors to get the PhysX-type features from the Batman games on the current consoles.

Edit: Does AMD not have an equivalent tech, then?

Read above this post.

Nobody is getting it.

It's not that I don't think consoles COULD run it, it's that they won't, for the fact that HARDWARE/GPU ACCELERATED PhysX is a Nvidia propietary thing and it is apart of their nvidia gamesworks features suite. Software level PhysX has been on consoles for over a decade starting with PS2. Xbox and Gamecube and was integrated into several game engines.

AMD does somewhat have their own thing in TressFX, but that is for hair and possibly grass. Nvidia has it's own tech regarding those as well.
