What is it, you're not a Batman fan or the open world structure of AC? I remember when I was drooling over AC you were just meh about it. I guess it helps that I'm such a big fan of Bats. But I thought the gameplay of AC was some of the best I've played in an open world game sans Red Dead. So I'm very excited for this new entry in the franchise. I can't wait to see how the Batmobile is incorporated into the game. I wouldn't want to over use it because then that would take away from gliding through the city and smashing thugs while finding clues and collectibles.
It's been too long, so I don't really remember what all my reasons were. The main one that sticks in my head is that where I thought the Riddler Challenge things were fun in AA, they felt like work in City. I recall spending hours trying to get certain ones, thinking I was just being a dumbass, only to find out it was impossible to get without some piece of equipment I hadn't unlocked. I've always HATED games where you have to play them just like the developers want you to, so I found that incredibly frustrating. Whatever it was, I remember actually being bummed out by the lack of enjoyment I was having in the game, as I absolutely loved Asylum, and felt like I was as big of a Batman fan as anybody.
I'm sure to some extent, that was the Achievement Whore / completionist inside of me that was making it feel like frustrating work rather than a game. I'm REALLY trying to not worry about trophies and achievements this generation, unless they sound "fun" to acquire. Even then, I'm trying to not let those types of things dictate how I play, and just trying to play the game through and have fun instead. It's second nature to immediately pop open the trophy / achievement list the second I unlock a new one, and scroll through the whole thing to see if there are any level specific ones I'm coming up on, etc. Such a weird habit to try to break, as my brain immediately remembers all the "fun" trophies and achievements I went out of my way to get last gen, not the annoying and frustrating ones that ruined experiences.
Sorry for the novel.
