Battlefield V

We'll see, we just had a WW1 BF and a WW2 COD and a lot of people had gotten sick of WW2 games not all that long ago. I'm sure it'll still do well as it's a BF game but I think maybe they should alternate between modern and historical settings.
Most have issue with the WW2 setting.

I know for me personally I'd rather this one went modern vs back to the old ways yet again, there just isn't a huge amount of difference between WW1 and WW2 weapons in these games. I know I sound like a broken record on this but I wish they'd have done Bad Company 3 instead or at least did a re-release of all of the bad company 1 and 2 maps rebuilt and at 60fps for modern consoles, I'd buy that in a second.

I personally am burned out on modern. I would've like to have seen a Vietnam setting. WWII does not bother me as much and I loved the WW1 setting. About the only modern I would like to see is BC3

Vietnam would have been more interesting to me as well but it wouldn't offer the variety of locations that a larger global conflict does.

Didn't they do that a long time ago, I think it was a PC only game.

Yep, BF2142. It wasn't highly regarded compared with say BF2, but it was solid.

I'm still trying to figure out how people are burnt out on WW2 games when I can only think of one major one on current gen consoles.

With vehicles, WW2 is just so much easier to balance. For a COD type game, WW2 is played out. Vehicle combat is so much better in WW2. Planes and tanks are just starting to be really good, but still vulnerable to infantry. It just hits that sweet spot for balance.

There were quite a few WW2 games going back to last gen. I know for air combat the older wars are easier, you don't have to worry about helicopters and the planes don't fly as fast . Another thing that kind of bugs me about BF1 and will likely happen with BFV is that the splash damage from the tanks cannons seems to be too weak.

Yeah there's definitely a balance vs reality issue there. They don't want vehicles to dominate.

As much as I grew to like BF1, everything seemed a little off with the damage model. Supposedly they are reducing the time to kill a bit so you don't get shots where you do like 14% damage on people with a rifle or machine gun. BF1 seemed to take balance a little too far, especially in a game where medics were everywhere.

It seemed like you were better off on a horse with a sword than in a tank with a cannon, which was always weird. You'd see tanks sitting at spawn while the horses were gone. :)

I'm really hoping they up the excitement level from BF1. I can't repeat enough how much fun BF1942 was even way back in the day. Some of the maps were just epic pitched battles.

WW2 is my favorite era in the history of warfare. With these new consoles and graphical power that’s what has me excited for another WW2 game. From what I’ve seen this is going to be some intense battles. I can’t wait.

What sounds dumb is calling facts dumb.

Fortnite the first game its genre.:laugh::laugh:That is some funny dumbass s*** right there.

Perhaps I wasn't clear.

Fortnite has no number after it. It's not Fortnite 2, Fortnite 3, Fortnite 4, Fortnite Hardline, Fortnite 1, or Fortnite V.

It was the first BR game on consoles and it launched a little over a year ago. Calling it stale compared to more Battlefield is.....dum dum dum dum dum.

The Culling beat Fortnite to console. And there were BR games taking place in Minecraft.

Nah'ing facts seems a bit odd. But whatever floats your boat.

It belies the point made by Valliance. Just because something isn't your cup of tea doesn't mean you can call it whatever you want. Battlefield is stale. Fortnite isn't.

People are wondering why Battlefield V preorders are so low. It isn't because of female soldiers. It's not because of EAs reputation. It's because Fortnite has captured the zeitgeist. Relatively speaking, more Battlefield is just boring now.

That is not clarifying, it is backtracking.

You're right though. The BR genre isn't stale-- BF has BR. Fortnite is s***.

Someone couldn’t string 3 sentences in a row without mentioning his favorite game.

Yea because dropping into the same damn map for over a year now isn't boring.

Are you talking about Dota 2, which has had largely the same map for 13 years? Or are you talking about the baseball diamond, which MLB has been using for 114 years?

Player engagement doesn't work the way you think it does.

PUBGs been releasing new maps at a good clip the past handful of months. Look at steamcharts and tell us how player retention is going for them during those months?

Battlefield needs to reinvent itself. Slopping on a new coat of paint every year or two isn't going to cut it anymore. The games play the same.

I would argue BF is one of the MP shooters that has stayed consistently good over the many years in its run on consoles. Great franchise.

Fortnite sure is a phenomenon and millions keep playing it. Personally I don't care for it, not a huge online player and tbh the controls feels floaty to me, but that it's hugely more popular than battlefield and cod isn't really up to discussion. I'll prob buy bfv when on sale or free with ea access. Wouldn't even download fortnite.
