Boardwalk Empire

This sucks that it is the last season. Capone was just coming into his own, GD this show is sooooo good

OMG new one aired tonight I think!

Time to (totally legally) DL that s***! :)

Man I've been starved for high quality TV for a while now so glad this is back (sadly last season)

Woo Hoo! The Boardwalk is back.

Was an interesting opener. Certainly sets up what the season is going to be about.

Anybody else a little pissed that they have totally left out the rise of Capone ? such a shame. Would be great if they did a spin off and focused solely on Capone.

Uh, have you seen the latest episode by any chance?

season 5 episode 2 was amazing. maybe my favourite episode aside from season 3 finale.

so much incredible character depth and psychology going on, awesome cinematography, music, everything. I think this show is going to absolutely nail what we all want in this final season.

So Rothstein's death is reduced to a quick mention :(

Yeah, what the heck? I caught that quick mention and wasn't even sure about what I'd just heard. I must have been in denial. Now that you mention it, I guess I did hear right. I was confused because it seems strange and unfortunate that they wouldn't elaborate on it more. Rothstein was a fantastic character, brilliantly acted. Shame if we won't be seeing any more of him.

Yep bit lame to kill a regular for 4 seasons off screen. They could have done a flashback of that rather than on the ones of Nuckys childhood.

Really doesn't feel like we need all these childhood flashbacks. They should have shown the important events that happened during the jump in time.

This last season is just incredible!

2 more episodes......:(

Loved the bar seen with Nucky in the latest episode, so amazing.

No one watching this show? Or just don't even know where to start talking about it because so many awesome things are happening?

Nooooooooooooo! how could they do that. How. HOW! :ycry:

I still feel that Chalky was very poorly used and ultimately a pointless character. It is a shame cause Kenneth is great, but it seems he gets under valued a lot.

It's irrelevant. Same as Capone's rise is irrelevant. The show is all about Enoch. This is why we have the flashbacks to his early days. We see how it all began while seeing how it all ends...and lets face it, this show will end only one way, Enoch's death.
Do not get me wrong I would have loved another 2 seasons in between the last and this one to really resolve and show all the other players rises & falls, but it is what it is.

But all these flashbacks are just showing us stuff we already know.
And AR's death sets up Margrets story and he was a main character for 4 seasons.

Also I can see it with him going to jail rather than death. And that young lad is definitely Tommy.

Also why the hell is Gillian still in this?

The young lad isn't a lad and is a young Gillian I believe.

The one now working for Nucky? So she had a sex changing time travel device? So the show has jumped the shark is what you are saying ;)

No the kid they caught stealing under the boardwalk. Thought that's who you meant.

Well the UK is a couple days behind so I've not seen that yet.

Well s***, I feel bad now. I should use spoiler tags I guess. Sorry :(

Though it's not even much of a thing considering how much stuff is going on.

But my apologies.

Wait, Tommy is that new kid?

Sorry, just clued in. I was thinking Jimmy for some reason.....

That makes a lot of sense actually. Hope he doesn't have anything against Nucky though, he does seem a bit mis-trustworthy somehow.

and so it is done. I am glad Enoch's story ended like it did as his demise, for me, was the only real way it could end.
I wonder if they do a new show based on/following the Luciano outfit. I so want to see that trio of bitches meet a violent end

I think the Luciano legacy probably played out in every Italian mafia movie that's been previously done (every leader must get made, no more Capone's getting too big to hurt our ultimate cause)

BWE was a pretty fresh take on that same sort of element just prior to the more popular and well known mafia stuff.

Really unique. Yet, similar story arcs.

Don't want to post spoilers so I'll just say, and I'm sure you felt it too, the noble decision that 'Nucky took a pass on to get ahead is unforgivable no matter what, and deep down he knew it.

Basically all people who get ahead by ignoring their morals of what's right and wrong deserve what's coming to them eventually, and I'm not even a religious man.

Not many shows/movies/books make me feel and think like this show eventually did so I really appreciate that this level of production is made and I get to see it. HBO really has a great model for producing high quality material that takes you into another world.
