Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel (and all DLC) are being bundled together and tarted up for release in Borderlands: The Handsome Collection for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The compilation comes out 27th March.

You'll be able to transfer old saves from PS3, 360 and Vita into the new games (providing you stick to the same family of machine); you'll be able to play four-player split-screen for the first time; and, apparently, "for the first time on a console, players can experience [the games] in HD - looking better than ever before". In HD for the first time! Goodness me! Whatever the graphical upgrades are, aren't mentioned.

A Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition of the game was announced alongside the news and costs a ridiculous $399 (confirmed UK translation: £270). That's because it has a remote controlled - via smartphone app - one-wheeled Claptrap robot inside, complete with video-streaming eye and ability to spout one-liners from the game. Only 5000 have been made. Watch it in action in the video below.

That collectors edition, I want it! but $400 is too much for my blood.

Def in though.

never played the pre sequel game so definitely going to pick this up, loved BL2 and its DLC so definitely excited for this. That is cool the game saves will transfer over to new systems.

I've never played these games, may pick this up though. Well not the collectors edition lol.

Awwww sh!t, this is one I might have to half dip on. Never played the pre-sequel and played the crap outta BL2, but missed the last couple of DLC' for it. Saves from the 360 being able to be transferred is awesome. Any word on price for just the games?

I'm not asking myself if I will get this, but on what console. Trying to keep the amount of games on both even.

I never even finished Borderlands 2. That game was waaay too long and I got tired of all the cartoon shooting by then.

Did the math. With all the current releases I want this year (and assuming there is another COD), I will have to get this on the PS4 to keep things relatively even.

Hmm $400 to finally shoot Claptrap... that's damn tempting.

Wow, almost worth it. Would love to have my very own Claptrap.

FYI.... The Pre-Sequel is a new game and I'll take BL2 as a freebie to go with it.

My bad, I haven't kept up on BL games after 2....for some reason, I could have sworn there already was a pre-sequel game. At least...I could have sworn I've seen a new BL game on steam before, but again, didn't follow it.

The pre-quel was released on PC last fall (not sure on other platforms).

I don't think anyone on Steam buys games new anymore since they'll be on sale for cheap in a few months :)

According to the site, it came out on PS3 and 360 as well.

Oh well, it's fairly new, so I get it. I just wish they'd concentrate more on totally new games, and not ports.

I don't know how I feel about this one. It's a good amount of content, no doubt. I still feel that, "Great another game bumped up in resolution only on Xbox one for $60." I'm kind-of sick of these games, where's all the new franchises? It's like the same 5-6 major game franchises every Fall now...boooooooring!

I find it funny that Gearbox implied TPS would not come to xbox one / PS4. I feel bad for people who have new gen systems and bought the old-gen version of the game + season pass (which is around $100 I think).

That being said, this is pretty sweet, but why not include Borderlands 1 for the complete package?

These special collectors editions are getting more absurd every year, but the sales involved may be incredible.

Doing a quick of skim, there's approximately 15,000 stores if you add up all the Walmarts, Gamestops, Best Buys, Toys R Us. And then you have Amazon and other online sites which is a totally different dimension.

For the brick and mortar stores, if each one sells just 1 special edition that's $6M retail sales alone (15k x $400). And that excludes online sales.

Apparently the reason for GB not including Borderlands 1 is due to budget. What's wrong GB - couldn't find another publisher to trick to fund your own games? (I'm referring to Aliens Colonial Marines).

Just be glad that didnt happen...

I think TPS didn't sell as well as they had hoped on last gen consoles, after all I think their take on releasing on last gen was the larger install base. So now they're gonna "throw a bone" to current gen.

I'm cool with it cause I never bought TPS knowing it'd make its way to current gen at some point :)

Actually according to the Podcast that Major Nelson did with Randy from Gearbox it was that Pre Seq and 2 use the exact same engine code so it was just that BL1 used an older engine that made it not work for the collection.

I am really starting to feel the pull for this. I never played 1.5 and it looks fun and please let this go on sale....must hold out for sale....

The only good thing about all these collection editions getting ported to next gen is you actually know what you're buying. No season pass mysteries and no additional $30 in DLC. It's almost "retro"...buying a complete game for one retail price.
