Boxing Thread

Definitely. I am a fan of both which means that I will be nervous while I enjoy the fight. It's a weird feeling having to watch the two guys I cheer for when they fight going against each other.

Also the co-main event is a must see. Danny Garcia has a tough fight and he might lose to that crazy hammer-fist, incredible-Hulk, no mercy-having, cold-hearted, beasty, descendent of Goliath, Argentinian guy.

Both fights are definitely a must see. Then the Marquez and Bradley fight is coming up and then we got the Pac-man vs Rios fight after that I think.. Man Boxing is alive. Alive I tell ya. It is so alive it's currently giving UFC nightmares.

I just think Pacquiao is just taking an easy fight with Rios, I could be wrong. That's the worst possible match up for Garcia, though. After the Zab Judah fight Garcia looked BAD.

After Pac-man was left snorring in the last fight I think Rios was a good choice just for him to test himself to see if he has any more gas left in the tank.

If he wins I'm sure the next big step would probably be a 5th fight with Marquez or Floyd. I'm sure the fight with Floyd is still going to generate good money.

Not quite.....or even close.

I meant PPV number wise.

If I knew a bunch of people personally that would watch it I wouldn't mind getting PPVs but otherwise no way.

Canello is very good but not world class and certainly not in the same class as Floyd Mayweather but then nobody out there (right now) is the last fighter that was the Pac-Man (of 07-12) and after watching his last two fights who even talks about a Mayweather vs Pac-Man fight anymore? I expect it too be another UD after 12 rounds in favor of Mayweather, Canello doesn't have the knockout power nor the reach to trouble him unfortunately. Same story different night. The fight of the night is def in the under-card with Garcia and Mathysse (I'm sure I've spelt that wrong, excuse the mistake), If I was forced to pick a winner I'd wager on Mathysse within 12.

and for the record Boxing isn't giving UFC any nightmares at the moment but when one of fights like this are made and they are becoming more and more extinct the numbers do the talking.

Just in case you missed it here is the Canelo Mayweather weigh in. Explosive!

Also the Danny Swift Garcia and Matthysse weigh in.

So far the event has been pretty good. Smith and Molina are on round 3.

Cano defeated that guy from Europe.

Watched the PPV at a cousins house. It was ok since it didnt cost me a dime. I am more of a UFC fan. Boxing is too much of a production, ran by too many promoters trying to get money. I think the lack of the Pacman / money match up that never took place when both fighters were in there prime ruined the sport even further for me.

By the way, whats up with Lil Wayne coming out there rapping, couldn't even hear the dude, and then with Beiber out there? God boxing is bizarre, do you really need 30 people in the ring right before the fight starts?!?

114-114

lolololol

What an absolute joke boxing has become. Teddy Atlas needs to find a tall building and jump off it as well.

Mayweather solidified his legacy as much as he could tonight. The pacman fight is dead now so this was the best fight he could make. I would say if Canelo stays at Junior Middle weight he will be an HOF fighter. If he moves up to middle weight IDK.

After this fight I'm not too excited about seeing another Mayweather fight, because there just isn't anybody left out there. If he does lose it will be because he's just too old to continue fighting.

Floyd Sr. seems to be doing a better job with Floyd than Roger did.

Big win for Garcia also. I really did think Matthysse was going to win that fight.

Both fights show that you have to hit cleanly to really win fights at those lower weight classes.

As expected the Garcia Fight outshines the Main Event. Floyd's style just doesn't do it for me anymore. He's on his bicycle a little too much for my liking.

With nothing left for Garcia @ 140, I wonder if he will move up to 147 and possibly fight Floyd

And that wouldn't be a good fight either considering the trouble he had with Zab.

The only fight I didn't like was the Molina fight. After the fourth round I got up and went to the kitchen to grab a bite just to kill some time, that guy and his opponent were both sloppy.

The other fights were pretty good. Canelo was crying you could tell by his face expression during the post fight interview. I really feel bad for him. De la Hoya hyped him up to be the one to finally beat Mayweather and he made him believe that too just so he could lock himself up at a rehab facility days before the fight so he won't have to show his face after the fight. I truly do believe that Canelo had this believe that he would dethrone Floyd, De la Hoya on the other hand only believed in the big bucks this fight would generate.

If he really did think that canelo had a chance he could had waited a few more days at least a day after the fight to go to rehab. Effin' coward.

At this point father time is the only thing that can beat Floyd. Floyd's next fight won't be until May 2014, which is no good if he's trying to fight 4 more times. That means he will fight his last fight at 38 1/2 years old.

His body won't let him down in the next two years in the shape that he's in. 4-0 in the next 4 and no one really available to push him, printing money.

When will there be the next 'Mike Tyson' man in the future? I'm waiting. ;)

If you mean in the heavyweight division then good luck with that. That's a dead division. It's like TXB on life support right now.

But if you mean just a fighter (any division) then there used to be a little guy named Paqcuiao once upon a time not too long ago.

A Floyd fight won't do his career any good. Floyd fights never do anybody's careers any good...except Floyd's.

Actually, I feel kind of bad for Floyd. He has sort of become the Allen Iverson of the boxing world. He's the pound for pound king, but most boxing analysis have trouble ranking him in the top 100 of greatest boxers of all time.

Looking at what he has been able to accomplish in his sport he should be neck and neck with top athletes of other sports, but Kobe is easily a top 10 greatest basketball player of all-time. How do you put Floyd above him when he's barely in the top 100 in boxing?

They are waiting for someone to beat Floyd so they can make that guy the second coming of Sugar Ray Leonard.
