Hey, been on the road last couple weeks so haven’t had a chance to update, but wanted to confirm that for Xbox One we’re 1080p upscaled from 720p. And, we’re native 1080p on PS4. We optimized each console to hit 60 FPS and the game looks great on both. Still on the road, but glad to see the great reception to Extinction. Can’t wait for next week's launch.

Doesn't really matter to me. My tv is 1366x768. Was planning on getting a 1080p set at launch, but ill wait till maybe summer.

Ouch, not that I was going to buy it anyway but this news will be bad for MS with the COD crowd and word will spread, I simply can not believe they goofed this bad. I couldnt imagine the mental gymnastics a fanboy would have to be performing right now. MS arrogance reminds me of Sony's before the PS3 launched, they definitely deserve a dose of reality, that will only make them work harder.

It was already well known that MS goofed when they decided to exchange raw power for Kinect. That was a big mistake that will continue to cost them. Don Mattrick was a fool.

Nevertheless, I didn't buy an Xbox One to be the most powerful. I'd buy a PC, not a PS4, if I cared so much. I bought it for the games it offers. And it show no signs of stopping.

I think the majority such as myself could give a sh!t. Only the ones who like to stir it up and get people into a frenzy will. Over time this will get better.

Yeah it's unfortunate.

But the writing WAS on the wall.. 50% power gap on the GPU is difficult to overcome.

Hopefully games that make full use of all of Xbox One's bells and whistles can come closer than a >100% native resolution difference.

The biggest part of this news for me, as it doesn't really upset me since most multi-plats I'll probably buy on PC: Despite it validating what I've been saying since the XBO vs. PS4 spec rumors became fairly solid and then verified... I don't want to be on the internet anymore because Sony Fanboys are going to be throwing parades and it's hard for me to stomach why they get so happy over a product having more power than another.

Me I don't care as I have no allegiance, I just happen to like xbl and the controller better. These kind of stories will make gaming forums fill with trash though and petty fighting

B-B-B-But unprecedented partnership with COD.
Xbox One still gets all DLC a month early. I don't think that's changed.

Yeah, but I still think it's overrated. That >100% native resolution makes for a <1% difference to the human eye. I don't really have any problem getting multiplats on the XB1.

Of course, that's probably not the narrative that's going to be played.

give up kinect... use the $130 BOM or so in a better gpu, cpu, ram... imagine what that could have been

Well for me it's a big difference. I can test such things with my gaming PC on my TV.. and before I upgraded my GFX card I often had to sacrifice to sub-1080p resolutions to get certain affects working (particularly if I wanted to check out PhysX.)

While it wasn't terrible it's very noticeable to me compared to full 1080p. And I wasn't even lowering my games all the way down to 720p.. usually I'd get the game running at 900p or 768p.

Jumping up to 1080p makes a lot more than a 1% difference to my eye.. at least on my 65" HDTV.

Same with jumping from 1080p up to 1440p here on my 27" monitor I sit a few feet from. Distance from your display/size are the biggest factors.

Games will still look great and have far more effects on screen than last gen.. but if you actually sat down on a good big HDTV and tested out 720p vs. 1080p I doubt you wouldn't be a bit dissapointed in XBO.

Hopefully MS gets spanked month to month in sales, that will light a fire under their asses. Aggressive MS is the best

To all those making this out to be a power issue is wrong. The X1 has more then enough to run the game at 1080p Im sure its a tools issue. But this is pathetic to say the least.

i don't think you can put it all on him. was he the architect behind X1, doubt it.

He was the lead of the Xbox division. That said, I assume all decisions were made by him. He's the one who decided that Xbox should focus more on entertainment and Kinect that pushing hardware and games.

It's going to bite, no doubt. It just sucks that gamers are so shallow. Even the Wii U is a good system that has a lot of potential, but gamers (or even third-party devs) don't even want to give it a chance.

Of course, I expect Xbox to do a lot better than Wii U.

This sure sounds like the tools for the XB1 weren't ready for third parties. MS dropped the ball there, big time. I don't think it's a pure power issue yet just because Forza and Ryse look so hot and DR3 is doing so much, but we also know that MS worked very much hand in hand with the development of those games. We'll have to wait and see if the third party games perform better later on, but it's disappointing to those who want to play this game - even though I'm not one of them.

What irritates me is, IW said months ago, both consoles were running 1080p, 60FPS. So what gives? Did MS make changes to the damn software that threw these guys a curveball?

more and more I'm beginning to see not leaps and bounds over current gen, but rather skips and hops. :really:

You are making statements that you have no ability to prove... and making them as though they are facts.

I personally HOPE that tools/SDK upgrades make a big difference moving forward.. as well as devs making more and more use of XBO's nuances.. but the power gap on the GPU is just an outright fact, and it's quite large.. and it's also a fact that the GPU is the single biggest aspect of graphics rendering.

Those facts lead me to believe that this is definitely at least partially a power issue.
