Deep Silver has announced it's acquired all rights to the Homefront franchise from Crytek, and will now be in charge of development of the upcoming Homefront: The Revolution.

The publisher best known for Dead Island and Saints Row has confirmed it's opening a new studio in Nottingham, England, to continue the project, and will also be picking up "all coherent assets from Crytek".

At this stage it isn't clear if the new studio, called Dambuster Studios, is made from the remnants of Crytek UK, which was where Homefront: The Revolution was being developed and is also based in Nottingham. Given there have been multiple reports of problems at Crytek UK, including rumours that the entire staff stopped working, it does seem that the studio has reformed under Deep Silver's banner.

While it's great news that Homefront: The Revolution will continue to be made, it's unclear what position this leaves Crytek in. We've reached out to the studio to try and clarify the situation and will update you when we know more.

Crytek previously denied the reports of financial problems at the company. Homefront: The Revolution is scheduled to release next year on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Isn't deep silver a brand of surfing gears & clothing's? Now they are into games?

Will it still use the cryengine? This game would of been better if crytek was the developed.

Good on Deep Silver for hiring on the existing staff of Crytek UK, if i'm not mistaken they have done this in the past.

*Cough* up to a 3fps advantage vs 1080p and better visuals?

hmm wonder which I would choose:laugh:
DF counts this week oh and DF making that paper lately.

FPS in the 20s consistently? No thanks. I'd rather have 900p and smoother gameplay anyway, but that is pretty low for both.

maybe it's because I'm old and my eyesight is not as good as it once was but I honestly don't see hardly any visual difference in most of these games.
