Decided to blow up our Loot Cave, Bungie? Our precious, treasure-dumping respawn point in Destiny? Fine then, we'll find another one. In fact, PS4 Trophies did just that in a new video, detailing a new legendary farm point in the game's rocket yard...

That one looks OK. The mission on the moon when the temple doors open probably has a better yield and a faster one. Of course you have to die to exploit that one

No problems here doing that!!!

... Of course you have to die to exploit that one

Quick question; is there any penalty or negative factors at all related to player death in this game? How are players discouraged from dying and/or encouraged to survive?

No penalties expect for when you enter a Darkness area. In these areas if you and your team all die at the same point, the area is reset and you have to start again.

In the latest weekly update, Bungie has shared some details about upcoming events and expanded on some of the changes announced yesterday. One particular bit of information caught our eye though, and it has nothing to do with magical loot caves.

Reader Michael Hansen sent us this tip yesterday (along with a picture he took) of a coin hidden in a tree in the Tower. Bungie says that if you happen to find all of them, you’ll get a special player emblem only available from Bungie. We don’t know how many there are, but if you find them, take pictures, and post them in the weekly mail bag post first, you’ll be able to crow about your victory.

Bungie also says that The Vault of Glass, Destiny’s first raid, has been completed on Hard. We shared with you the story of PRIMEGUARD, the first team to conquer it on normal mode (after more than 1,600 deaths). A different clan, Invigorate, has conquered it at its most challenging.

The matter of farming loot caves has also been addressed, with Bungie promising ways to pry us away from those spawn points. “The last safe City on Earth needs more hunters than farmers, though, so we’ll do what we can to inspire you to complete missions of variable difficulty under new, challenging circumstances,” writes community manager David Dague. For now, there’s a new loot cave that’s been discovered.

If you're planning on playing this weekend, you can jump into Salvage match as part of a time-limited playlist. The Iron Banner will be making a return from October 7 through October 14. This mode uses your weapon stats in multiplayer rather than equalizing for balance.

Our Take
Destiny was a lot of fun for me until I hit 20 and stalled out. The random number generator hasn’t been kind, and despite as much enjoyment as I derived before, I think I’m almost done until the loot system is overhauled completely.

Someone at the bottom of the page brings up a point I've been wondering all along. WHY in the hell don't the boss characters drop anything? I've never had a boss drop anything. I'd take that over the random generator after the mission. At least it would feel like I accomplished something even if it was the exact same loot. I think the random generator should be for glimmer, shards, and coins. The enemy should drop gear.

I have absolutely no idea why there isn't a chest to open after you beat a boss. No sense of reward at all.

Usually a little triangle thing drops that is a house banner or something like that, but yeah, something much more substantial would be nice.

Missions, strikes and raids, oh my! A bug in Destiny has reportedly leaked the names and locations of several pieces of content set to arrive with the expansions for Bungie's sci-fi shooter, the first of which is due in December. According to a...

I really don't know if I'm getting DLC... I feel like I'm almost done with the game after I finish the raid. The only thing left to do after the raid is max out all my gear... and get new emblems or cloaks and that's it.

After I beat the raid, I'll probably be done with the game for a while. But I think I'll come back for the DLC.

It looks like the DLC is pretty hefty at least. Unfortunately it doesn't look like they are adding new planets.

I'm pretty torn on deciding whether to sell Destiny or trade it with someone for Shadow of Mordor which comes out on Tuesday... either way, I'll want to finish the raid first and see.

While im not overly thrilled with Destiny in its current state, I do think it has tons of room to grow and get better with time, so im not going to make the early mistake of bailing on it.

Still haven't managed to beat the raid yet but we got a good way into it on Friday. Another than that I'll probably pop in for the daily and weekly challenges. I'm not sold on the dlc yet though.

It hope that it is all new content for the DLC packs. There is no way in hell that I am paying any money to replay old missions/assets reconfig'd into new strikes/raids.

Not that there is much of a story to talk of in Destiny, however, maybe there is a reason for it?

http://m.ign.com/articles/2014/09/29/was-this-the-original-storyline-for-destiny

It all starts with a mysterious, and now deleted, Reddit post. The original poster claims to have been invited by Bungie to participate in a user research program. The user notes that they were under a Non-Disclosure Agreement, but believes said agreement is now void post-release.

According to the user, the story experienced in the retail version of Destiny isn't the same story they played during 2013.

Allegedly, the original idea for Destiny was to focus around a different character, The Crow, who is introduced early on in the story in place of The Stranger. The story then takes an unexpected turn. After being abducted on Earth by Crow's group, which comprises of former, Ghost-less Guardians, the player learns that there's something wrong with one of the group's senior members, The Speaker.

What would cause The Speaker to leave The Tower and join The Crow and his band of former Guardians? Well, according the poster, The Traveller – the person responsible for stopping The Darkness – is also the cause of The Darkness. In this version, The Traveller transports The Darkness to Earth with him, bringing on the collapse of The Golden Age, infecting Earth's technology to a point where it nearly wipes out all of humankind.

Eventually, the player ends up being sent to Venus to recover a Gatekeeper's eye, which is said to hold a powerful AI. Sound familiar? It should. A mission to Mars then sees the player learn that the Cabal have been harbouring an advanced AI for their own personal gain (Rasputin?).

So that's the first few hours. The poster goes on to mention that the internal test group is sent ten hours into the story's future, which again, brings another huge plot change.

The AI points to a location on the Moon, The Hellmouth. Inside, the structure harbours a secret super weapon capable of reviving The Traveller out of his dormant stasis to, presumably, unleash havoc on Earth once more.

Interestingly, during the first video documentary, the Bungie App features a mission where the player must "Help The Crow loot the academy archive."

Over on a different Reddit thread, users have noted that several areas are missing from the retail version. The Seraphim Vault was an area found in the Alpha version via players glitching their way through the game's map. Furthermore, in the official video documentary, foliage-rich areas of Earth can be seen. Have these areas been pulled? The likely explanation, albeit unconfirmed at this point, is that these areas are intended for use in future DLCs – the first of which being The Dark Below and The House of Wolves.

Adding further to the theory of an alternate story, back in September, 2013, IGN reported that Bungie's lead writer Joseph Staten had exited the company.

“After fifteen great years at Bungie, from the battlefields of Myth to the mysteries of Halo and beyond, I'm leaving to tackle new creative challenges. While this may come as a surprise, fear not. It's been my pleasure building Destiny these past four years, and after the big reveal this Summer, our hugely talented team is on track for greatness. I'll be cheering all of them, with all of you, when the game launches next year. Thank you for your support of me, and your continued support of Bungie. We couldn't have done it without you.”

Could Staten's leaving have affected the story? Was the original story not nearly as great as it sounds? Could the reviving of The Traveller, and the introduction of The Crow be a future DLC pack to expand the game's universe?

We've reached out to Activision and Bungie for comment and will update once we hear anything.

i've put 50 plus hours in the game and i have no clue what the story is about. all i know is i'm fighting the darkness.

Destiny developer Bungie has taken to the forums to discuss the leak pertaining to future content that went viral this morning.

To bring you up to speed, earlier this morning some players discovered a bug that allowed them to see the name of some of the content that will be included the Destiny’s upcoming expansion packs, leading some to believe that said content was already on disc.

Now, Bungie community manager DeeJ took to the official forums to respond to those claims.

“We noticed that you noticed that we already have plans for upcoming content packs in Destiny,” he began. “We do! They have activity names (which may or may not change) and we have a really good idea what they’re going to contain. They even have placeholder nodes in the Director, as you’ve already discovered.”

Deej added that neither of the expansion packs are finished.

“People at Bungie are hard at work to complete content for our first post launch pack, ‘The Dark Below,’ as I type these words. It will be finished soon. It releases in December. Soon, we’ll detail it out for you so you can see exactly what we’ve been working on.”

Thanks, Polygon.
