Digital download questions!

Play as you downloaded sounded a lot cooler at E3. I guess we will start to find out a lot of the promises aren't all they were made out to be.
It only makes sense that you would need a good percentage of the game dl'd before you could functionally play it. It must take a fair bit of extra work to even have it as an option at all. Having to dl 20% of the game seems reasonable.

Yeah, I'm just saying ... so far its been candy canes and puddy cats being promised on both sides. I am just glad the rubber is about to meet the road and we get to see behind the curtains and judge for ourselves. No more hiding... very soon

A lot of people seemed to think they could start playing without a buffered amount, not sure what they had been smoking though

Hmm really undecided now about the whole DD thing! I am waiting to get BT infinity which is a nice 33mbs when it's enabled (BT said my area is gonna be ready in next couple months :) ) but ATM I am only getting 3-5mb which is fine for online gaming but not great for downloading huge data quickly!!

Might get first couple games hard copy then trade em in and start buying stuff digital when my internet is given steroids :)

I have been a big supporter of download only for a while... But full games downloads are going to suck. If they are really going to pack 50 gigs of crap on a disk just to make it a tiny bit harder to pirate, and for us legit downloaders to sit through a 50 gig download for our 15-20 gig game...

f*** that.

As far as I understand the games are compressed for downloading. A 50GB game doesn't need a 50GB download. And you may be able to start playing after maybe 5GB and download the rest as you play.

they still need to get rid of the garbage buffer crap. None of these games should be over 30GB right now just by comparing them to PC games. I would be more willing to download a 15GB game then a 45GB that is mostly full of garbage crap. If a pirate wants a game so bad he'll download unless he's capped like me, but then it's still cheaper to pirate the game and go over the cap then pay full price. So I see no point in all the garbage on the disc.
