This is pretty bad.

If I'm a player on the Clippers I refuse to play another game while he's still owner, whether I'm black or white or whatever.

On the other hand, how did TMZ get this conversation? I'm not clear on if it was a phone call or someone was able to over hear and record a person to person conversation or what, but even if you have a really s***ty opinion (i.e. you're a racist) it's kind of lame that a tabloid can somehow invade your private conversations you know?

But too late, it's out and this guy has to somehow be removed as owner.
 
Sure, if people don't mind this type of story in the NBA thread go ahead and move it.

I feel like this is a pretty different sort of discussion despite it being related to the NBA you know? The NBA thread is probably better focused on playoffs etc.
 
That's messed up. In this time & age...

I guess that why LA clippers have all white players....oh wait.

Im guessing the girlfriend and her lawyer (who is being sued by Sterling's wife on embezzlement charges) recorded it and sent it to TMZ.

Damn, sounds like a whole bunch of douche bags that really suit each other!

Also, I didn't realize he's owned the Clippers for 30 years. I used to look at NBA standings when I was a kid and wonder who these Clippers were and why they sucked so bad every year. I think they're good now but he must have been a bad owner the first few decades. I'm sure fans would be thrilled (especially now) if he was convinced to sell the team.
 
Heard about this yesterday. What a jackass. Saw a interview with Doc last night on ESPN and he said the locker rooms black and white players were both mad. They need to get this guy out of there.
 
as someone who happen termed as a minority(I'm black) he has absolutely every right to express whatever views on race he wants. If anything the attack on this guy is not only an indication of how politically correct society continue, but also a lack of disregard for his rights also.

Looks like the Clippers have already checked out. They're down 17 points to the Warriors right now on ABC.

Yeah, this is awful if true. How can you have people you hate working for you who are making you millions of dollars? That doesn't even add up to begin with. I heard someone was trying to blackmail him or something though so who knows. Either way he has to go because nobody is going to want to play for that team while he's the owner.
 
He has every right to be an idiot, he is however going to have to deal with the backlash that comes along with that way of thinking.
 
If this was a regular joe with this opinion on another race then it is not news worthy. That is the point he is a man of power and is the owner of a team that the very people his opinion was aimed at work under him and are in the stands around him. He deserves whatever fate the NBA gives him.

Watched the first of the Clip game and looked like all this has got into there heads. Also noticed they had there warm ups on inside out so it didn't show the Clippers logo. About to turn the game back on and see whats happening. Warriors were killing them.
 
That's a pickle of a situation, I don't know how any of that business works, but I'd imagine that if the guy was replaceable, then that would be the first step on politically correct level. However, I think if any other repercussions can come to him, it should come in the form of pounding in the ass fines, huge public apology, and a nice long probation period.
 
His gf is definitely with him for his looks.

He certainly has every right to express his views on race as he wants. Anyone else has every right to attack his views on race too.
I get that he is 80 and probably lives in the 1% bubble and is out of touch. However, he just carved the heart out of his team.
Additionally, he is part of an organization that has a zero tolerance for racism and needs to be punished.
 
They said in PTI today that Mark Jackson said the LA fans should not come to the game in protest. Sure that would give GS an edge lol
 
Did not catch that part. Now today on most sports shows they think the Clipper players should not show up to the game in protest.

NBA to hold news conference today at 2pm ET.

I would play for the fans. They can't help that the owner of their favorite team is a creep.

Forget the fans even, I'm sure they want to play for themselves. Are they going to through away an entire season on a stupid owner?
