Donald Sterling/L.A. Clippers thread.....

I don't think anyone would buy that book.
Nor that movie. I mean, it doesn't even sound that compelling for a lifetime movie when you really think about it. Now what she should do is turn this into a lucrative stealth action game. Just planting bugs all over the place and catching everyone in the act.

We're going to start to see a lot of lawsuits that allege workplace/hiring/firing/promotion discrimination against Sterling.

Imagine if there was someone like Sterling in position of governmental authority, or perhaps someone who directly affected the lives of non-millionaires?

I sure am glad those folks don't exist.

I wonder if we could hear private conversations of politicians and even our President, what kind of goodies would fall from their mouths?

Sterling is definitely a creep. Not trying to defend him.

So when is Stuart Scott getting fired? He made one of the most ignorant comments I have ever seen, LOL!

OK, I just listened to the actual recording. It's...interesting. I'm particularly fascinated with how the girl sounds like she's reading from a script, and that she's clearly leading him and trying to get him to say racist remarks.

I wonder if anyone has considered the idea that he doesn't like Magic Johnson not because he's black, but because he's a LAKER - you know, his team's RIVAL?

Maybe you're right. Conspiracy anyone? My thoughts on it.

1. You know how My Lakers team suck this year and the clippers looking to take over Lakers dominance in LA for the next decade and also becoming the 4th biggest market team which equals $$$.
2. Sterling is a freakn racist in the past.
3. Magic and his company are looking for franchises to buy...
4. Rumors going on that Magic hangs around with Sterling's girlfriend (the one who tape and set him up. She posted Magic on Instagram).
5. Leak racists remarks...
6. All of the sudden, magic mentioned he's willing to purchase the clips.
7. Sterling is now forced to sell the team by the NBA.

OK, turns out there's a 15 minute clip of the conversation (I only listened to an 8-minute clip). I don't feel like listening to the longer clip though because that woman drives me insane.

This dude: https://twitter.com/JD_2020, Josh Olin, has a great resume. He was repping Turtle Rock, makers of that cool upcoming game, Evolve.

But then he tweeted that Sterling was a victim:

So what do you think?

He's a bigot and a racist. He's wrong. She's a tool because I think she set him up. Sterling should have been gone long ago. This is nothing new. With everything that was known about Sterling one has to wonder why players and coaches kept signing there which is a good point made by ESPN's J.A. Adande. You have to wonder why Stern never did a single thing to Sterling when Sterling had lawsuits filed against him and while he was heckling his own players. Steps should have been taken long ago. I do feel like there is more to this as far as why now besides having audio of it. It makes an ultimate transition from the old commissioner to the new commissioner. One thing is for certain, if Magic and his associates, or his associates alone, buy the team, or Magic has anything to do with the Clippers, this whole situation becomes rather interesting.

This is like taking one squirming maggot from a bloated carcass and putting it under a microscope, wretching violently and crying: "how awful". People with money and high social status like this guy are just the same as ordinary bigots and racists. Until exposed, money protects them whether it's trash talking about other ethnic groups, or having their way with young boys in a school shower. He's just one example of a much more pervasive problem that's swept under the rug and goes largely unnoticed, save for the occasional incident such as this.

But with Sterling, it's a pattern and not uncommon.

Didn't I just say that? It's also common for people of substance to get away with it a lot more easily than your average bigot.
Man, them lines, I didn't read between them.

I skimmed your post too fast.

*LOL* My bad. Sometimes I'm too circumspect and discrete to get my message across. Young eyes might be reading this.

I think if you put a microphone in the living room of every owner in the NBA you would hear some pretty f***ed up stuff.

Not sure how I feel about that guy getting fired for sharing his opinion on Twitter. It was obviously not smart to say something like that when you work at a place like that, but he's still entitled to his opinion. Sounds like this is turning into a bit of a witch hunt.

He shouldn't have been fired but he sealed his fate when he called Sterling a victim. DON'T PRESS SEND!

And when you give out a stupid opinion like Josh Olin did on a social website for all to see you deserve to be fired. Saying a racist man is the victim SMH. No place for racists in America today. And saying he is old and came from a time when being racist was accepted and taught is no excuse.

Also heard yesterday that some think Stern never went after Stirling because of his legal background and Stern did not want to be put into a long drawn out legal battle.

Yeah, you can be fired for the stupidest things, like coming to the aid of a woman being attacked in a Walmart parking lot because it was against company policy.

Yeah that's the lamest excuse I have ever heard. The only way you could defend him would be simply that he has a right to say whatever he wants in the privacy of his own home. Still I don't think he (Olin) deserved to get fired over it since he wasn't at work when he said/typed it.

Bomani Jones, who wrote an article about Sterling's racism 8-9 years ago, states this better than I could have. This is by far the best thing I've heard about this whole situation. People are piling on because this is an 'easy' situation, but the bigger points are missed:

Some opinions are are best kept to oneself. just saying.

The problem with some people, they are so full of themselves that they feel the need to let people know what they think, however stupid it is.

The Donald Sterling dilemma is a misunderstanding! He meant to say don't invite minorities to the NASCAR races. ;)

If you are going to argue for protection of people with unpopular opinions in the workplace, then fine. But Donald Sterling is a bad person to use as your poster child.

Lebron needs to stop speaking about the Clippers/Sterling situation. He's making himself look foolish. He said he doesn't want any "Sterling" owning the Clippers. He's alluding to "Birds of a feather flock together." If that's truly the case, should we consider him the same as his mom, the alcoholic psycho who's going around calling people the N word in an aggressive manner?
