since someone asked if I were the only, or first ' female 'gamer
on this site
I decided to pose that question

am I indeed the only or first female gamer, on this site?
I doubt it,but...

and for all the males on this site
do you care if there are female gamers?
I mean what is your take?

Most won't care intact a few will be a little suspicious after a few cases on TXB.

well you would know if you were on my friends list via Xbox
and we played together, I learned to mute my mic, except for friends
because of some of the online stuff
 
MasterMama is a woman. I have noticed a few other women registered at the site, although I haven't seen them post.

Not saying I doubt you just that TXB has had some funny cases.
 
I looked at a random sample of 100 registered members. Out of 100, only 1 was female. So, about 1% of the membership is female. I should mention, though, that about a dozen of them did not specify a gender. I would assume these "undeclared" members are men, because of the predominance of men here, but it is possible that some of them are women.
 
and when I can I play female characters
saints row 2,3, 4.. 1 was male only
guess that's why in 2 you woke up with bandages...lol.. on your face..as you could change sex
fallout 3 and new Vegas always female, ditto elder scrolls games and mass effect
so grand theft really could have a female lead.. they chose not to

true, but most of your members did come from your old forum
on places like the Bethesda forums there are a lot of female games, including a number of their mods
I think summer is older than I am.. she is a mod there
I see a lot of females on true achievements and xbox360achievements
and xbox forums

Apparently Sam Houser is a bit against lead female roles or just not comfortable writing them.

Yeah, I'm sure there are more women elsewhere. TXB had a pretty aggressive, testosterone-heavy atmosphere, which I imagine would cause women to find the place smelly. I personally hope to have a more congenial atmosphere at Union ... but it's pretty much the same members, so we'll see.

Fwiw, I looked at another 100 registered members' accounts. Of that sample, 2 (2%) were female.

There have been some female members in the past. 2 that come to my mind are spartan2 and Beanie. Both of them were regulars in the OTL back in the day.

Think we are the only two possibly so far. We joined the same day. I haven't noticed anyone caring one way or the other that I'm female and game. More surprised at my age, being female and gaming I think (I'm 49). I've got a lot of females on my friends list. I'm not into multiplayer games but when I have played a few times I don't turn on my mike. I always liked the atmosphere on TXB. Have tried other forums but have consistently stayed with TXB and now with Union. I used to like the forums at XBox.com before they changed them.
 
I went through the member rolls. Of 725 members, 12 (1.7%) are female. Here they are:

It's possible that some of the "undeclared" may be female. On that list, I only recognize starlight, MasterMama, and Sparky (who may or may not be the former editor of the front page at TXB, not sure). The rest are probably lurkers or occasional visitors.
 
I remember reading the news (was it CNN?) several weeks ago that there are more female-gamers than male-gamers according to the "survy". o_O Interesting if true.

I think it was in a particular age bracket, if I remember right. Also, they are counting women playing solitare at work, occassional mobile games, etc -- "gamers" only in a very broad sense of the word.

My wife never would play video games and then I bought here a tablet and now she seems to play Candy Crush all the time. I dont get the need to play that game. She is in her 30s

My gf was addicted to that game for a while as well. Got to like level 200 or so. Ridiculous.

I've gotton my 14 year old daughter into gaming since she was 9 and she's finished a lot of single player games. Doesnt seem to have the quick reflexes needed to be good at multiplayer fps games though.
