this topic was discussed briefly on the teamxbox forums. my argument and preference is for a narrower structure as due to the spread being smaller my eyes can take in more of the screen which creates a more encompassing and less strained view.

arguments for and against? preferences?

i have installed a rudimentary poll to go along with this topic of discussion

I haven't had any problems with it honestly.

I guess now that I think about it I would prefer the narrow view. Can it even be an option for people or would that cause issues with photos and what not?

to permeate my thoughts a bit more...

As far as forum width goes, I can create a narrower width but then when you switch to mobile it will be wonky. The best bet may be opening it in another window, not tab, and resizing the window as you seem fit.

Looks great as is on my tablet, phone, and desktop. I always hated the wasted space on txb.

it's perfect as is.

some of the themes resize perfectly on mobile.

bump

any hope for this even as an added theme? still don't see the point in so much wasted space in the centre of the site

In order for him to do what you'd want he'd need to either give the forum and a fixed width, or a max-width which I don't think either would be a very good idea for how the site is laid out, or he'd need just some blank space to the right that is a fixed width. Right now it's a fluid layout meaning the site resizes with the size of your browser.

I'll try to work on a more compact one during the week. Give me some time. Super busy this week, Joon. I think it's relatively quick to do one I just need to test it.

I like it as is. If you make it narrower, long posts will be very wide (vertically). The current format has most people's posts confined to a 1.5 - 2.0 inch vertical box on my screen.

I like the new "slim" version. Thanks Plainview. My eye isn't accustomed to reading sentences that stretch all the way across the whole width of the screen.
