I've made the switch. Tired of Firefox's constant slowdown, and bloated RAM usage, I just couldn't take it anymore. I'm not sure where Mozilla went wrong but Firefox has been going downhill for a while. It's unusable now. Chrome is like looking at the internet for the first time all over again!

This should have been done a long time ago, but better late than never. Welcome to the 21st century!

To me, FF is just too heavy. Not sure if you'll know what I mean by that, but use Chrome for a few days and then go back and you'll know what I'm talking about.

Yes, everything just zips in Chrome. Loads much faster than FF. Haven't touched FF in years.

not really, since i dont have anything to compare it to; been using firefox sicne forever. may aswell give chrome a try though

Chrome is amazing. I just got done rebooting both of my systems, and it is just plain nice to know all of my history, accounts, and bookmarks are right where i left them.

(firefox that is)

i like this little bookmark toolbar that runs along the top. thats handy

by the way, anybody know how to make windows 8 start menu (the tile screen) set to total default? like, to have it to never see the desktop again ? (my desktop is just empty so its pointless having it default back to it really)

FireFox is bloated, but I still use it. Actually I use WaterFox which is a 64-bit version which is a little better. I like Chrome but it needs a good script blocker like NoScript. The memory usage is kind of nuts. Not that it matters too much on modern systems, but 4 tabs are using like 1/2 a gig of RAM right now. That's crazy for something that should be lightweight.

how much does firefox use in comparison ?

Currently using chrome, it is only SLIGHTLY better, I constantly see "the following pages are unresponsive", "aw, snap. Something went wrong", and "The following plugin has crashed:". I mostly switch between all three major browsers; but honestly I prefer firefox the most because of downloadthemall and the superior adblock (Don't worry plainview, I disabled it for this domain).

I like Chrome, but it needs more options for private browsing, instead of having to enable Incognito each time you use it. Even then, sometimes it suggests websites from your favorites when typing in the address bar. I don't like that. At least with Firefox it's just as easy as unchecking several boxes and it's done. No more tinkering necessary.

I have tried Chrome, but I did not see any performance gains over Firefox so I uninstalled it. I kept waiting for this magical experience people talk about, but all I saw was a browser that was about the same as I was already using.

It would literally take a minimum of 10 seconds for pages to start loading. If I had more than four tabs open, forget it. Chrome has been far snappier.

I thought I noticed my webpages loading slower lately. Firefox needs to get its act together.

I did not run into that, but then again I don't like having more than four tabs open at one time as I find having that many open is an attention drain.

Mine at work is set to launch in Incognito. I just right clicked on the icon to change the properties. Change the start up line by adding:

-incognito

to the end after the "

Have no idea about the slowdown in Firefox. Chrome, on the other hand, has horrible memory maintenance, and devs never fix that.

I use most of the popular browsers (IE, Firefox, Canary, Chrome for Web Development) & Chrome has become my main browser for many reasons. But it can be a memory hog.

Each of the 3 major Web browers have issues. Not using Firefox anymore, but I use mainly IE & Chrome now.

Earlier today I had 37 tabs opened and didn't notice any slow down at all. Mind you, I do have 32 GB of RAM, but still.

Currently I have 22 tabs opened.
