GT's 2016 10 most anticipated games

The only legitimate Xbox exclusives that could have shot on the top are Quantum Break and Gears 4 but they both have reservations by many. QB has not as much as hype as other titles as it has actual real life 20 minutes cutscenes which could impact the story and pacing and Gears 4 simply due an underwhelming E3 demo and it's made by a new team.

All those 10 on the list also include reservations but have many people positive reasons to be anticipating it.

10. The Legend of Zelda - An open world Zelda harnessing the power of NX. Exciting
9. The Last Guardian - An emotional story and unlike any other game out there. Ueda also delivered with ICO and Shadow of the Colossus.
8. Dark Souls III - Fromsoft have delivered with so many Soul titles plus people loved the demo's at events.Final souls game
7. Street Fighter V - Beta impressions were glowing and people love the tweaks and enhancements.
6. Overwatch - A refreshing take on FPS's by Blizzard. Blizzard quality of approval.
5. Horizon: Zero Dawn - An open world RPG set in a completely unique world and gameplay looks engaging and interesting.
4. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Human Revolution which much loved and this next one looks to improve upon that.
3. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End - Naughty Dog's reputation is sky high and finale to Nathan Drake's story.
2. Final Fantasy XV - 10 years in the goddamn making, hugely ambitious and could propel FF back to its glory days
1. Persona 5 - Persona 3 and 4 are heralded as some of the best RPG's ever made. The franchise has continued to grow and it has been 6 years since the last one.

You could argue about stuff like Mass Effect, The Division etc but I don't think QB and Gears have delivered on their showings and gained enough excitement but Gears 4 has plenty of time to do so whilst QB needs to start upping the ante.

I think many of those games have reservations by many. Also, what has Horizon really showed? That demo was very scripted and contained from a developer that has always done dudebro shooters. You have to look at their trailers too, Guerilla has great trailers, even their KZ games seemed to have great stories lol.

That game has a lot more to prove to me as does Zelda, Last Guardian even coming out in 2016.

Being the most anticipated isn't the same as saying its a lock to be one of the best games of the year

I didn't even think Ueda was directing TLG? Didn't he leave the studio? Or was that someone else?

Gears 4 looked goofy but it was earlier and ITS GEARS so I have my hopes.

My initial reaction to that demo was similar to yours. But after watching it a few times it grew on me. The atmosphere was really nice.

I think the fact that there wasn't much going on action wise probably threw people off.

After rethinking my list, my most anticipated games of this year are:

Mirror's Edge: Catalyst; I was so excited that they announced a sequel. The original was one of my favorite games from not only last generation, but of all-time.

Dark Souls III; I loved Bloodborne; it was my favorite game of 2015, that I played. I could not really get into Dark Souls I or II because of how slow they were but this seems much faster than the aforementioned titles in the series so I am super excited for this.

The Division; I am really hoping this game turns out great. It looks quite cool but I am hesitant to preorder because of the bait and switches that Ubisoft has come accustomed to.

Quantum Break; Alan Wake was one of my favorite Xbox 360 titles so I trust Remedy. Plus, this one looks quite great.

Persona 5; Looks great. Just have to hope for a 2016 release.

No Man's Sky; I think the game looks quite rough whenever we see it in demo, but the concept sounds amazing and I hope these guys can pull it off.

I won't be able to afford all of these, so my list will probably be:
Dark Souls III
Mirror's Edge: Catalyst
Quantum Break

Of course I said there were reservations with all of them, but people clearly see more potential with these games than others. It might have been scripted but the fact it is an open world action RPG leads me and a lot of people to believe it is just dynamic game play. Yes but you have to look at the talent GG have gained for Horizon. People from Bethesda, the writer behind Fallout New Vegas and quest designers from CD Project Red. This is a different Guerilla that did the Killzone games. They all have to prove something but with Zelda and The Last Guardian they have studios and teams who have delivered in the past.

Ueda is still the main director, he works for his own studio now called Gen design but it is collaborative effort from them and Japan Studio, So he is still overseeing the game.

Nah, but what is the "most anticipated" really mean at all anymore? You anticipate something then it gets delayed or falls on its face, that's the trend in next gen gaming.

That was a long time ago, until they show me something like UC4 where I can see the dynamics or the fruits of previous experience shining through, its not even close to a given with next gen gaming. I have no faith in ICO anymore, despite me understanding they had/have great talent, which a lot of it left. So 10 years ago and this happened:

"Core members of the Shadow of the Colossus, under him, became independent, to do creative stuff. But the main development team is still in Japan Studio."

So basically the core main guys that did SoTC aren't even working on it. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/sony-explains-long-wait-for-the-last-guardian-and-/1100-6428391/

Very suspect.

The opposite I can said for ND, they have been pumping out games consistently with high quality and the demo for UC4 is actually dynamic and lengthy. For me ICO has to prove themselves again, its been far too long to just say they haven't lost a step with losing all those guys. Idk about Zelda, it seems like a mix.

There has never really been a team Ico. There has been a group of people in Japan Studio who made Ico and Shadow of the Colossus who are referred as Team Ico but the way Japan Studio works I'd imagine a lot of these people have moved onto other internal games like Gravity Rush 2 and unannounced Japan Studio games.

Very rare that a game with TLG development goes as planned but I hope it's good.

But it's gone down so many bad paths since it was announced.

Is someone assuming Zelda won't turn out good?

Nah, it probably will be, the issue is the NX will probably be a steaming pile of gimmick crap that I don't want. Unfortuantely it will probably also have a couple of must haves that I wish I did.

So true, but you can imagine how the people who frequent just this website must feel seeing it. Not even sure we have a "Persona" thread, heck I've never even heard of the game. Can say the same about many of the other titles...either zero or near zero talk about a couple of them and we have a huge ongoing discussion about Quantum Break. I realize we aren't a normal cross-section of the gaming community so that would account for some disparity. But even then some of these are old IP's and I am not sure that Deus Ex, Persona, or even ICO/SotC were huge selling titles that warrant huge anticipation for their next iteration. And as mentioned, a couple are likely not even going to see the light of day in 2016. Just saying, there is good reason for this to not be what many consider a really good gauge of what most gamers are looking forward to this year.

Well so what? They aren't claiming that it is and I don't see any reason why it needs to be. There is no possible top 10 list they could have had that wouldn't have had people claiming they are biased or stupid or whatever people claim when they don't agree with something.

That is for sure. There is 3-4 times as many posts here for Quantum Break than Uncharted 4. If you went by this forum you would think Nintendo didn't even exist.

Most gamers>most gamers here
Way different in scope.

So you agree then that their list sucks. Cool.

In my experience, this forums lack of Nintendo discussion is similar to other popular gaming forums. A distant third compared to Xbox and PS discussions.

Gears 4 demo was underwhelming, & we do not have any info after, so its understandable. But being a popular series, I am surprise it did not get a mention.

Never played any Persona, so cannot command much. It could be a game to dust off my PS4. Its been also a long while since I play a japanese RPG, so maybe I give it a shot. We have to see.

Do not have Nintendo consoles, so Zelda means not much to me, & I am not buying a console to play a game. I know people will say there are also alot of other good games, but I am already trying to limit my game time, so I cannot see myself buying a new console

Same with Quantum break, unless it comes to PC, its a pass for me. I do think it can be a very good game.
