Help Picking a New TV

Need 65. But I saw that price but I assumed that the Black Friday price is only available to Best Buy members and I can’t see that price cuz I’m not a member 😳. And that their price, whatever it is, is available to them early and common folks like me available later?
Shoot, I’m a member 😆 my bad. But it should be soon… maybe by the 1st?

I’m going to replace my 10 year old Sony soundbar with the new Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar that just came out as well. Going to order the bar and TV same day.

Exciting day in the house.

Dad's old 42" Panny plasma has been dying a slow death.......and FINALLY died.

Not my TV. Yet I'm nerding out about it haha. My Dad is not a poor man and yet he doesn't seem to like spending money on new stuff these days. He used to be the guy that bought all the new tech......

@Zer0beaT I'm my family's tech support person So I understand. I get irrationally giddy when they call me after big tech purchases to hook it up and calibrate it properly.
We have it assembled and ready to take down to the basement.

I am going to share a very satisfying video sometime today. We're both taking a break for now though.

DAMN! This is a sexy looking beast and haven't even turned it on yet......

I need an OLED for myself, can't afford right now :(

I bought that today! Exact same one at Best Buy for $1599. I am picking it up Tuesday 😎

I'm an Xbox/Android/Microsoft fanboy,

I'm a Sony TV fanboy though, which is weird.

Got my eye on it when I need to.

I f***ed up big time in this thread.

I promised some epic video..............

Unfortunately, I forgot to select video when I hit the button to record on my phone, so I have a photo which does not do justice so I won't share it.

Maybe this is something others have experienced, but at a certain point when setting this up, I thought the screen had some scuffs and marks on it, then I discovered this yellow tab at the bottom corner...........

Protective film tab..........holy crap and yeah that's the dumb thing I wanted to share.

65 diagonal inches of protective film removal...............It was awesome!

There is a really good tv for Sony that isn’t OLED that’s like a g or less, for a 65” I could be wrong but I’ll look it up and relay said info later.

LG OLEDS are amazing, I’ll stick with them. The Sony tax isn’t worth it for minimal PQ difference. Love my 77” G2, got it for $3100 last year, Sony charges $3500 for a 65“ qdoled

Can he just return it? Didn’t he just get it? How’d it die?
He's fully covered on it from the place he bought it as long as he kept the packaging.

Which he/we did.

Yeah he lilterally bought it about a week ago, and got it Friday morning I think?

He also has the year warranty, and bought it from this place because they give an extra year warranty, and also bought an exteded 4 year warranty which if unused, becomes a store credit.

So he's good, but like I say, pain in the ass! Apparently 1/10 of these LG's die almost right away, according to the guys at the store. They actually unbox and test each one before they go out the door.

1/10 is 10% failure rate, that's not very good, but might not be worse than other brands.............I have no idea.

My dad is 80 years old and doesn't need this s*** but like I say it is what it is and he's fully covered for this.

And no, he didn't do anything wrong. It just died after a couple days.

I should clarify, if he (which he did) can repack it semi-nicely, he'll get another LGC3 on the spot, and they deal with the whole return process, no waiting for my father, he get's a new one on the spot.

He's calling them tomorrow morning and he's been asking about it on the web. Just a pain in the ass like I say. Hopefully he can get a good one without too much trouble. I work full time and don't have a vehicle that can accommodate this TV, so I'll help out as much as I can but I can't transport it.

I'm going 55" next TV. Don't think that's happening anytime soon though. I'm in a smaller room and 55" is perfect actually.

I'll probably seek out a display model after the Superbowl. If it's been fine for a whole year and on deep discount, sign me up.

Stood the test of time right?

What actually happened to it? That's unreal I'd be so pissed.

I remember the most stressful part was putting the stand on then standing it back up.

I think LG has a 3 to 5 year warranty, might depend on the model, dono if it includes your state/country/providence but manufacturers warranty is added to the duration of the sales warranty

They have a 1 year warranty. And that is to have it refurbished basically.

But my father has 30 days to pack it up, and take home another new one from the store, and hope that lasts more than a week (lol)

And then he has another 4 years after that.

Like I say it's just such a pain in the ass to repackage this, do it all over again............

You guys know what I mean. I'm complaining but also not complaining? It's all good. Just a bit of a bummer.

Yeah we did all that with the stand, now get to undo it...............

I was at work all day so I wasn't there. but basically it just will not turn on, all we can get is red flickering from the "on" light at the bottom, he's tried everything, I've tried everything.

It was working fine and well back it goes. Seriously never had a big purchase electronic unit go so fast out of nowhere. I know it happens though. 1/10? well, yeah it's gonna happen to all of us at some point.

Then take down the current TV and soundbar.

Finally no more Sony stuff for me going forward 😎
I hope yours lasts longer than my dad's LMAO!

The store he got it from is delivering a new one (not a 3 day old one wtf haha)

We just have to pack it up for them in the next bit, which I'm not looking forward to but maybe it won't be that hard.

Congrats on the new TV (the one on the wall looks pretty sweet too)

The one on the wall is my Sony TV that I bought like 6 years ago. That is going into my lower level so I can watch it while I am on the treadmill.

Glad to see you are getting his TV replaced ASAP!
