Horizon: Zero Dawn

I'm thinking this will be the best game of the generation.

It may borrow ideas from other games, but it marries them amazingly! I want it! I want it now!!

A friend of mine at work just finished Watch Dogs 2 and said the game, even with side missions was extremely short. He bought the game on sale on XBL for $30.00. He said he would have been pissed if he had bought it for $60 based on how short it was. He said he did like it though.

The game is far from short unless he rushed through the main missions only and used fast travel constantly. I spent over a month on it playing an hour or 2 per day, doing every side mission, finding almost every skill upgrade point possible, finding paint schemes and outfits, and sill didn't come close to 100% on it.

I think I'll get this and hold off on Nioh. Actually I'm still undecided.

Its all Sony's fault. This is supposed to be a slow time for gaming.

Since you're having such a blast with Bloodborne I think you'll really enjoy Nioh. But if you can only get one it's a hard choice. Robot dinosaurs V Ninja Demons. It's never an easy call.

In that case if you're playing Bloodborne right now I'd say mix it up and go with Horizon. I won't be playing this game for a while as I have no time between Nioh and Nier, but I might just grab it at launch anyways. Gotta support new IPs.

Their slow time is holiday, so you will be all good till MS picks up the holiday again ;)

Id get

BOTH but since you are hot for Bloodborne right now... NioH would be a better fit IMO.

We don't agree on lots but I think you're right here. For any one who likes Bloodborne, Nioh is a must have!

Actually I'm leaning towards Horizon before Nioh. I still have a couple of bosses to defeat in Bloodborne and I'm going to get its DLC which altogether is a hefty amount of content.

I know this is the Horizon thread but I have to say I don't just like Bloodborne......I love it. Never have I had such a big change of heart towards a game. I never hated it but its difficulty really put me off when it released. I think I've been too use to games making things a bit too easy. Now it seems there is a market for more challenging games which is cool. Horizon seems to follow that trend. I've read some impressions which said the game is not easy and you will die if you stir up too many animals at the same time.

Lol

You have the bug dude. Once dark souls or Bloodborne gets its claws into you there is a whole new way of looking at video games that opens up. I think you should absolutely go for Nioh. I had planned to put it off but got it as a present and it has blown me away. It's just as fun as anything by From Software. Plus is a meaty game. I'm nearly 60 hours in and only slightly over half way through.
It's a tough choice alright. We have two steallar first party titles for PlayStation within a month. It's been years since I've seen any console do that.

Or you could go with Horizon to change things up. Then, when you get Nioh later, you can come at it with a clean pallet.

I may end up doing that that as well. Nier isn't exactly the same as Nioh but still a hack n slash type game, so might grab Horizon and play that between Nioh and Nier. DAMN YOU SONY!!

I was going to wait for a sale, but I am leaning very heavily on a day one for this. I have been good about skipping most footage of this, and I don't want to risk exposure to more. Damn it! Weeeellllll, I DID just get paid....

Target is having a buy 2 get 1 free sale starting March 5th (in the US) if you can wait another few days.

Hmm. Might be a good time to get Zelda, Horizon and Last Gaurdian in one swoop.

Of course that means I would be staring at a shiny new Switch for a couple of days with nothing to play.

I find that once I'm starting to rationalise a purchase that I've already lost the battle on waiting.

I've read that Nintendo Switch games are excluded...

I'm tempted by this game, but just have zero time and a massive backlog. Of course I just got a bunch of amazon gift money burning a hole in my pocket and they have their usual preorder $48 prime deal.

I bet it will be awhile before it gets a price drop to $48 says the devil on your left shoulder.

Well game is preordered. As much as I loved the Nier beta and PlatinumGames, I feel it will be too close to Nioh gameplay so I'm going to put Horizon in between them. Still going to be a couple weeks until I beat Nioh though.

I caved and bought it. Funny how the difference between $60 and $48 is "I can wait" and "heck, I may as well order 2!"

For me it's a little of both. Won't get to Horizon until early March, Nier now probably April. But with the 20% discount, plus both of them being new IPs (technically not Nier but whatever) I want to support the new games. Stuff like ME Andromeda can wait.

I was going to wait months to play it because my backlog is already heavy but yeah. Going to be hard to not pull the trigger day one on Horizon. Damn you Sony for delivering on your promises.
