Thanks to Tusk, filmmaker Kevin Smith revealed that he now has the financing to move forward with Clerks III.
“Tusk was the absolute bridge to Clerks III,” Smith said on his weekly podcast Hollywood Babble-On on Friday. “Because of Tusk I got my financing for Clerks III."
Industry analysts have viewed Tusk as a failure because of the low opening for the film, which has made only $1.4 million USD to date. But Tusk must have caught someone's attention, leading to the funding of Clerks III. While the script is finished for the comedy, The Weinstein Co. passed on financing the film (though will still distribute the flick).
