I wasn't that big into them I guess, except when I had Splinter Cell: Conviction and bought the Insurgency Pack for more Deniable Ops map content.

It was kind of like doing mini-game Splinter Cell unrelated to the campaign. I played the hell out of these maps over and over; they just offered so many strategy options with how they're laid out.

I suppose a key part of this though is Splinter Cell: Conviction is a solo player game so it's not like other players feel left out for not having extra MP maps.

Hmmm..... I did also buy all the Max Payne 3 DLC which included the throwback maps in New Jersey, but also the other content like skins and weapons. Max Payne 3 was the s*** that MP was so fun.

I don't play enough MP games nor do I play them long enough to really have much desire for or interest in map packs. What confuses me is I see complaints about GaaS all the time, and yet I also see complaints when a developer ends support for a game, so it's like, what do people want? People complain no matter what and tbh it's annoying AF. People just seem so cynical and pessimistic all the time now. My only issue with GaaS titles is when a significant amount of content is blocked behind additional premium unlocks.

It is a double edged sword.

The Map packs usually had more and better content and usually came like clockwork, but fractured the playerbase. Technically we shouldn't miss map packs because these companies should have delivered the same content for free, but the greedy f***ers didn't.

So yeah, Map packs >>>>s***ty live service.

Didn’t halo 2 have a thing where you could buy the packs upon release but once the new map pack came out you they become free?
