3 deserved a lot of hate. So many subplots ignored or quickly brushed over (Emily wrong killed via twitter)
And the ending was wank

The resolution of the Mordin/genophage and Tali arcs are among the finest pieces of storytelling and games coming together ever. Love the game to this day for those. The ending was one classic SciFi game series deciding to steal its endings from another series, since the "push button to see your preferred ending" is a Deus Ex staple. That was abysmal. I still try to remember the 99% of the game before you get to that trash ending when I think about the experience, but man does that last 1% nag.

I caved and bought at full price as well. Really unnecessary purchase but I couldn’t help myself lol. I said goodbye to a lot of Bing points this week!

I've been saying this for a long time, the only reason I've played through it multiple times is for the sense of continuity of the story and decisions that plays out in 2 and 3.
It's better now, a bit tighter gameplay wise but still a chore to go through imo

And yes, I caved in and bought the legendary edition yesterday...
awkward f*** my life GIF
Exactly how I feel right now. I bought it for $53.99 discount price. Got to the Citadel and haven't felt like playing since. Should've been priced at least $39.99 or less. Sh*t, Halo MC Collection (6 games with enhancements) was $39.99 and with multiplayer.

Not at launch

The problem with the ending is that many people feel their choice do not matters over the 3 games and no matter what, it’s one of the same ending with different color filter and slightly different static slides.

however, they did fixed the ending, and I was happy with the rework. They also added a dlc with all characters ( those alive anyway) together as a finale which is pretty cool.

I'm just skipping ME1 and starting the superior ME2.

1 is still the best in the series.

2 is a team building sim with the pointless kill Shep then force him with Cerberus and ignore all the they are clearly evil stuff from the first and don't really add anything to the main story with the Reapers

And 3 is just all over the place and became very RPG lite

Despite not really pushing the overall plot forward much 2 improves on 1 isubstantially in pretty much every way except its RPG elements and it holds up so well. Its the GOAT.

Gameplay wise it's great and the squad are mostly great(piss off Jacob) but it also left 3 with an impossible amount to tie up because bioware was so focused on the squad.

I'm still pissed that they pretty much just ignore ME 2 in the 3rd game. The point of the game was building the squad and relationships and then they break it all up. Miranda was practically an afterthought.

2 messed up the story. It added too many characters to an already big enough list which caused bioware nothing but issues. Not helped by the short dev time.
No one got screwed over more than those that romanced Jacob. Though he sucks anyways so you deserve it.

The ME1 characters got screwed in 2 (apart from Tali and Garrus) and the main story got partly ignored and pretty much reset with everyone refusing to acknowledge the Reapers.

I would actually rank them,

1
3
2

Seems like the 2nd game in a series is Bioware's Achilles heel. ME 2 and DA2 were both lacking compared to their predecessors.

2 shouldn't have had to be less of a game just because EA wasn't willing to give them the time they needed to do 3 right. You are using its quality as an excuse for 3's lack of it.

And its really only Kaiden or Ashley who get screwed.

Liara sits in a chair moaning and asking you to hack stuff 2 minutes from her unless you later bought the Shadow Broker dlc

Wrex sits about and gets little to no time.

Anderson blink and you miss it type appearance and what ever choice you made at the end of 1 is hollow.
Oh Shep you saved all the council? Thanks but we've decided to call you a liar again and pretend it didn't happen.

Joker and Chakwas join the Nazi like group Cerberus because.. reasons
And yeah Cerberus. Clearly a small and nasty organisation in 1 doing experiments on people to misunderstood in 2 to seemingly the largest military group in the universe in 3
Planet scanning.
Most missions have countless hacking to pad the run time.
Think they originally only had around 5 side quests that had you exploring a planet. But gone are the big open areas swapped for linear missions. The dlc they added with the hammerhead didn't fix this.

As for 3 only Tali and Garrus get a decent showing out of 2s squad.
The rest are just bit parts and can't join you you in trying to save the galaxy for.. reason.
We didn't need EDI in a robot body and we didn't need Vega.

It had so little story it left 3 with crap loads to cover with only 2 years development so we got emails or a quick planet scan or deaths on twitter.

Any other publisher would have likely given an extra year or 2 between each game.

Well that is a good use of DLC and if DLC doesn't count then Javik doesn't count and then ME3 squad has really got problems because then what do we have? Vega? And that is the point. Even if you believe they were in a tough spot they still did little positive with what they did new or what they continued. Edi in a robot body? Ridiculous. Put someone from IGN on the ship for reasons? Moneyhat? How can them having too big of a squad that is also great excuse the squad being so weak in 3.

Wrex gets a meaningful spot and his character is pushed forward. Same way I wouldn't complain about Legion or Thane in 3 as their payoff is there even if they don't get lots of time. I wouldn't really demand every character hours of time just do something well with it.

3 just fails to follow it up in so many ways. Illusive Man is worse. They did nothing with Harbinger. And that is without even talking about the ending.

Andromeda had its issues. Combat not being one of them. I think the Andromeda team nailed the combat aspect. One of the reasons Andromeda fell flat was nearly the same reason DA: Inquistion fell flat. Too many pointless side quests. The ME trilogy in hindsight had many pointless side quests as well but they gave off the illusion that they were important. Andromeda dropped all the illusions IMO.

Got the kill 250 enemies right before the final fight in ME1. That's with me doing all side quests.

By the time I had finished 2 plus side quests my kill count is up to 1494

Really shows the shift in gameplay once EA took over.
