Microsoft: The Best Xbox One Gaming Experience Will Be Over IPv6

I don't see how IPv6 will improve game play. IPv6 was designed because we are running out of IPv4 addresses

So there will be more addresses which means more potential players.. duh ;)

My understanding is that it should improve latency and such do to the fact that you would effectively bypass the need for NAT.

its more to do with the nic card on the xbox not the internet.

That's not true. ISP has to support it to your house, and you'd need a modem that supports it, and if a router or other hardware is in between your Xbox One and that modem it would need to support it.

Comcast is in the middle of rolling it out right now for instance in a lot of places. I have everything I need for it but Comcast hasn't switched it on yet, so I get no IPV6.

you need the device to support which most do but they are devices out there that dont have IPv6, it not just the ISP, once it does it will go into a 128 bit ip with crazy number and letters. More like written in hexadecimal instead ip the old ip numbers.

How do I find out if I am in IPV6? Can I just type something in my terminal on my Mac to tell me?

Most here and most of the world are still using ipv4, let's see how long it will take for ipv6 to truly be used in our homes.
