Xbox One E3 2014 Rumors: Fallout 4, Halo 5 and Gears Of War Reboot Could All Be Part Of 'Hardcore Gamer' Focused Presentation
"The Xbox One E3 2014 presentation is just a little more than a month away, but that hasn't stopped newly minted Xbox head Phil Spencer from talking to fans about Microsoft's goals for the show. Spencer took to Twitter over the weekend for an impromptu Q&A with fans and divulged the following information (courtesy of Dualshockers):
-Spencer doesn't think Microsoft will introduce a dedicated handheld gamingdevice. Instead they'll work on Windows Phone and tablets, maybe with controller support some day.
-Spencer wants to make E3′s show more focused on the fans and he's looking for ideas to make them feel like the conference is for them even if they aren't in Los Angeles.
-The main focus will be on hardcore gamers.
-There was an idea to make Cortana the voice of the show, but Spencer didn't like it. He likes the Windows Phone feature but doesn't want to overdo it.
-Fans won't have to wait for Tokyo Game Show to see Japanese Xbox games (possibly meaning that we'll see them at E3).
-This year Microsoft will show "stuff we are committed to, from top studios, for this year and future."
-We'll get a "couple of things" announced before E3. May "Should be a good month for news." It took Spencer a month to get the plans set.
-Spencer has strict orders not to talk "about anything related to a 343i IP" before E3.
-Both new IP and sequels will be announced at this year's show.
So the Xbox One E3 2014 rumors will be swirling around games, games and more games. Last year, the focus was on the hardware and on the launch of Xbox One. IT was a big deal. But now that the console is lagging behind Sony in the sales war, it appears that Microsoft is going to need to pull out some pretty BFGs this year to regain some momentum and convince gamers that it will have the best library out there. Here are a few of the titles we will likely hear about at the Xbox One E3 press conference, in order from most to least likely.
Seeing as how we heard about Halo 5 at E3 last year it's a no-brainer that 343s latest will be a focal point of the Xbox One E3 2014 presentation. And for good reason. Master Chief is by far the most recognizable character for the Xbox brand and he is an exclusive that is guaranteed to stay that way now and forever. Earlier this year, Phil Spencer told a fan via Twitter that 343 industries will have more to share at this year's E3 gaming expo in Los Angeles:
What Halo 5 info will be revealed during the Xbox One E3 2014 presentation? I'd expect to get a release date, for starters. Rumors have been hot and heavy surrounding a 2014 release so expect a confirmation. We should also hear more about multiplayer feautres, including episodic Spartan-Ops style content. Expect a few tidbits about those Halo TV shows, too.
Xbox One E3 2014:Gears of War
The Gears of War reboot is another major exclusive for Microsoft, and a franchise worth bragging about during the Xbox One E3 2014 presentation. Black Tusk studios hasn't had a ton of time to develop the game yet and is still hiring for key positions on the staff. So don't expect an epic gameplay trailer. However, there's no way Microsoft will ignore the IP during E3 and there will be plenty of info on where the franchise is headed on Xbox One (and when). Bare minimum, expect a teaser similar to the Halo 5 one that premiered last year. A firm release date is unlikely, but a window is not. Expect to hear a "spring 2015" or "fall 2015" for the new Gears of War at E3.
Xbox One E3 2014: Fallout 4
Now we're slipping into the "maybe" portion of the Xbox One E3 2014 presentation rumors. So, why should we expect a Fallout 4 reveal during Microsoft's presentation? For starters, Bethesda is running out of IPs to talk about. By the time E3 rolls around two of their three projects, Elder Scrolls Online and Wolfenstein: The New Order, will be on the shelves. So unless Bethesda is going to set up an E3 booth just to talk about The Evil Within and nothing else, we should be expecting some news from the company. Common sense says Fallout 4 is their next big project. Since the Xbox One E3 2014 presentation will take place the day before E3 officially beings, it would be a great place to debut a game that will drive people to the Bethesda booth on the show floor. Why would Bethesda let Xbox One debut the game? In the past, Microsoft and Bethesda have had a cozy relationship, with Xbox 360 frequently receiving DLC and updates to Bethesda products ahead of Sony. Fallout 4 (probably) won't be an exclusive, but nothing would endear Microsoft to hardcore gamers more than giving us the Fallout 4 news we've been craving for almost two years.
Of course, these are just a few of the many potential games that could be part of the Xbox One E3 2014 press conference. Microsoft knows that they need to impress gamers and will be bringing out the biggest guns they can. Whether that means a plasma rifle, a Lancer or Lincoln's Repeater remains to be seen."
