It’s official. I bit. Just downloaded. If you get drunk enough, it looks like Scalebound.
Anyone tried this co-op yet?
The best way to play is co op. It’s a complicated mess to get going with the system they use bit when you team up with some friends and take down an Anjanath, well, you’ll have a big ol stiffy in those pants.
It’s the best MMO open world type game i think I’ve ever played. And not because the story is good, because it’s your usual Japanese obscure mess, and not because multi player is easy, because like the story it’s another abstract s*** show until you understand it, no, it’s the best because they knew exactly what they wanted to give the players. Nearly every single thing you think will annoy you in the game, is there to make you want to fix it and there is a way to fix it through unlocks and upgrades. I highly recommend this game.
So I've played this game for a few hours, with and without friends, as well as watch my son play it for a good while; I just don't get why people are talking this game up so much. I know there must be something I'm missing. For me the combat does not feel smooth. getting my character to attack in The direction I want him to is a hit or miss affair and when you do miss you have to wait forever for your character to finish his attack and flurish animations before you can adjust. Although this isn't as big of a deal with the fast light weapons.
Then the game loop is go off, track a big monster, beat on it forever until it dies, collect material, make/upgrade armor/weapons and go after different bigger super spongey monster.
Then they make it way more difficult than it needs to be to even get together with your friends.
Maybe my expectations were just too high after hearing people talk up this game. But tell me guys, if after playing for 4-5 hours and I'm not digging it at all, does it get better? If I put another 20+hours in am I going to be experiencing things that actually make the game more fun?

Thanks for the info guys. I'll try that lock on mode and see if it helps. I'll give it a little more time and see if it grows on me.For the camera go into settings and change the option to Target Camera and Target Large Monsters. That should help with not being able to target correctly. On the game play loop, nope it doesn’t change if you don’t like it now you won’t like it in 20 hours time. I think your wrong on the difficulty though. It takes about 15 / 20 to fight most monsters about 5 minutes of that is usually chasing it. Learning their move sets and how to fight them is the game. Research tells you about their attacks and weakness. Potions and prep gives you boosters etc. I’m nearly 80 hours in and only two monsters have really been a challenge so far.
Either way it just sounds like it is not for you.
I have put nearly 200 hours in already. Says it all really.I'm really enjoying my time with MHW. It took a bit for me to really get into it, but now that I'm familiar with the mechanics; I look forward to playing it.

Damn, this game is complicated. I just got it and I'm still in the training area trying to figure out which weapon I should start out with. I spent some time with the Sword & Shield but then noticed another weapon that looked similar and was cooler looking. But its a transforming weapon with some kind of charge ability that I don't quite understand. I can't wait to get back home to scan the web for videos of weapon tutorials.
I don't like playing co-op with Longsword players
