Most disappointing game this year so far?

NHL 15 for me.

The X1 demo shows a game that looks basically the same as last gen. It's missing a ton of features and modes, has a revamped UI that is not only cumbersome (you have to hold down LT and also press LS left/right to go to different tabs!?!?), but also looks as drab as a 32-bit era game (bland grey).

And it's mainstay mode EASHL is not available.

And the new play by play commentary is so bad it gives Tom Hammond from those old Madden games a run for his money for worst emotion and script reading ever. What these devs don't realize is top notch commentators don't have to be actual sports guys. Case in point, the guys doing 2k's Dan Stevens and Peter Okeefe.... they were actors. And the devs don't seem to have the balls to tell the real sports guys hired to do the job to re-do lousy recordings.

The dev team also some reason added and promoted "jersey physics". Sounds good on paper, but guess what? Hockey jerseys don't blow and waver on the ice so frantically as if there's a tornado on the ice. But some reason the dev/marketing think jerseys sway and crinkle like in a high wind despite players standing or coasting on skates at slow speed.

But low and behold, money making HUT is all fine and dandy and in their patches, HUT always seems to get improvements too..... $$$$$.

IMO, considering how gimped NHL 15 is, there is no way NHL 16 will have enough time to cram in all the usual stuff, expand on it, and then improve everything else.

From the excellent NHL 09/10 foundation shooting high in the air, NHL 15 and foreseeable future is a crash landing in a desert. NHL 15 isn't worth buying even it was bargain binned to $10. it's that bad, gimped and bland. A total sham. Here's a spot YT vid from some guy. Name one sports game which has been gimped as bad as this......

Last of Us. I figured I would like it, because it was by Naughty Dog (love Uncharted) and had received so much acclaim. I played it for 2 hours and just felt bored and somewhat irritated by it. I'm not a fan of stealth, continually dark environments, or survival horror games, so I should've known better. It never hooked me.

Assassin's Creed: Black Flag would be my other nomination. I'm just tired of the Assassin's Creed formula, I think. Sneaky sneaky, stabby stabby. It did not float my boat.

Watch Dogs for me. Bought the PC version. Beyond being un-optimised, the game was boring and didn't hold my attention. I think I was a victim of the hype. Major buyer's regret on this one.

Destiny is the runner up for me. While I was having fun initially, repetition set in and I just stopped playing.

Its worth saying that neither of the games are bad games but they left me personally disappointed. I just didn't click with them.

Yeah I'll have to go with Destiny as well. Overall I've been pretty happy about all the games I've played this year though.

Watchdogs was the most disappointing with theif a close 2nd...

I can see how people expected too much from destiny and have been disappointed from that angle. I'm pretty sure the next one will be better.

The Last of Us because it had to end. Why can't a game that great just go on forever?

But if you want a real answer, i'd say Watch Dogs and Destiny like others have already said. Two good games with lots of hype but they just didn't really hook me. I finish about 98% of the games i play. Couldn't be bothered to finish Watch Dogs.

I wasn't anticipating Destiny at all. But i rented it and it just didn't feel like a Bungie game.

Destiny for sure, i agree not a bad game, but it's just extremely shallow and has no soul despite grinding elements.

2nd place would be driveclub

I doubt I'll get Destiny, but if I do I'll wait for the bargain bin. It's already down to an everyday price of $39.99 at Costco Canada. Going by this, most places will probably punt it to $30 by Xmas or early next year. Then perhaps I'll get it if it gets some free content. The beta was meh, but for $30 might be worth taking a dip next year.

Destiny for me as well. They promoted it as this rich game with a ten year plan but it is the same missions over and over again.

Shadow of Mordor - Damn game has an ending :sad::sad:

Serious suggestion; Watchdogs - Game sucked IMO.

Destiny for me. After all of the talk of a huge, epic universe and constantly updated content, the game turned out to be a shallow husk of repetition :( While not a terrible game, definitely a disappointment.

BF4 was the worst thing I've purchased in a long time.

If I had purchased it at launch I would have said the same. I bought it when I got the Titanfall bundle, and for the most part I have had little hassle playing it.

Didn't expect to see so much destiny in here. Especially in a year that saw BF4 and watch dogs.

Watch Dogs by far but then I always thought it looked average at best but it didn't even manage that.

Interstellar. Oh wait, that's not a game.

Um, Interstellar. D'oh!

I meant...Interstellar... DAMN IT!

For me, after more time playing it, DriveClub would be the most disappointing game for me this year so far.

Destiny for me, it’s not a bad game but it should of had more content. Steering clear of the DLC as well.

Titanfall followed by Destiny.

On the flip side, I'm pleasantly surprised with CoD:AW. I went into it with low expectations, and I'm really loving it.

Your almost better going into a game with the low expectations it makes it easier to take.
