I don’t hear as much on the Sony side but even though all signs point to them taking a similar long term approach based on who they’ve been hiring, sounds like Sony will lean hard on being the only option if you want a traditional powerful console next gen. Just like Sony leaned hard into physical media in 2013. They will emphasize games running only on PS5 (not PC and not PS4). Point out that PS5 games won’t make any compromises by trying to work on other platforms and all development will be to maximize the power of the PS5 (which just like in 2013, will be a backhand to Microsoft by emphasizing the advantages of their strategy).
Like 2013, sounds like Sony will attempt to turn Microsoft’s divergence from traditional consoles into a weakness and exploit the ish out of it.
Even now, Xbox community has people breaking off based on the Nintendo rumors...and these are only rumors that even if true won’t go into effect for a bit. It’ll be really damned interesting to see if Microsoft’s can finally communicate to consumers.
