The wait for a next-gen games is getting unbearable! And our team at Ghost Games has been pushing themselves to be a part of PlayStation’s big launch day. We’re excited to announce today that Need for Speed Rivals will be a launch title for PS4 in North America on November 15th.

We’re stoked to be the first racing game on PS4, and believe we’re setting a new bar for driving gameplay and visuals. PS4, coupled with the Frostbite 3 engine, will give players unparalleled next-gen gaming — epic locations and vistas, stunning time of day and weather changes, and super high fidelity cars. But we’re not just about looks — what’s under the hood counts, too! With Rivals, we’re introducing AllDrive, a new feature which allows players to choose seamlessly between single player, co-op, or multiplayer, and a completely new way for you to play Need for Speed.

Share Your AllDrive Moments on PS4
Even as we play Need for Speed Rivals, we can never be sure what’ll happen next. Just recently in a Pursuit race, one of the racers dropped a stun mine at the bottom of a jump — another car landed right on top, wiped out, spun out of control, finally landing on the cop that was pursuing him. It’s that chaos and variety enabled by AllDrive that makes Rivals so unpredictable and fun. There’s no way you can script something like that, and when it happens, being able to have players show off those moments through the Share button is something we’re really excited about.

Continue the Race with Remote Play
This feature will work out of the box, allowing players to put down their DualShock 4, grab their Vita, and continue their game for those moments when you have to give up the TV. This is a great new feature, and when you also consider the drop-in functionality of Overwatch mode, we’re giving you more ways to enjoy and play Need for Speed.

See You on the Road
All in all, our team is incredibly proud of what we’re delivering on PS4. As a new studio, this is our first game, and we couldn’t be more excited to have Need for Speed Rivals be there at launch. Whether you choose to be a cop or a racer, we hope to see you out on the open roads of Redview County!

If you have any questions or comments about Need for Speed Rivals, let us know in the comments and we’ll do our best to answer them. Feel free to also drop by our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter.

Yea got an email from Best Buy it would be available. Lucky for EA that DriveClub was delayed because now I'm getting this. No way I don't have a racing game for launch. IT'S NOT POSSIBLE!

Vids and reviews will have to blow me away to consider this racer sans cockpit cam.
Awesome news that PS4 peeps will have another choice on launch day though.

This is the only announced racing game I'm really considering buying, I had a lot of fun with the NFS game that launched with the 360.

I really, really hope this game does not share any of the racing physics engine of the more recent FS: Most Wanted. That had atrocious controls and I was really hoping for a true successor to the original NFS: MW at 360's launch.

Day 1. If you watch high quality footage of this, there is no way that you'll mistake this for a PS3 game. It's gorgeous. It is the only launch window racing game I'm interested in, so DAY FREAKING ONE.

Honestly, it's not about how it looks. It's about how it plays. Criterion completely hosed the last NFS: MW game. This studio is working with support from them. I am now actually scared of that dev team having a hand in the project.

Demo first for me.

I enjoyed MW (the last one--not as much as the original), but I really enjoyed Hot Pursuit. I'm hoping the controls are more in line with that.

I was responding to ren of heaven's comment. All hands on impressions, game play wise, have been stellar. I'm not worried.

I thought I was buying Forza, but I'm considering switching to this one. The latest Criterion NFS is one of my favorite games ever, so I'm very curious how this one will unfold.

Not sure why NFS is in PS4 forum but here is some new info and footage from Xbox One event. Actually sounds kind of cool how they mix single and multiplayer. Just hope it is as seamless as it sounds.

Developer states 'native 1080p' at one point in interview and since it is XBO event I would assume he is talking about that version.

Wait so THAT is native 1080P? I'd be damned, I gotta buy this. I mean, low resolution does not detract me, but high resolution and great graphics on top of proven gameplay? Holy hell.

Edit: it looks like they put up a new video that fixed the footage mistake

The direct feed footage in that video is mostly the PS4 or PC version, and some of the E3 trailer. Off screen (during the actual interview) is XB1.

The escapist had an earlier video up that showed PS4 button prompts, but then reuploaded a new video with the button prompt footage cut out.
Incorrect. They originally messed up and used PS4 video in parts but since corrected the error, as stated by The Escapist themselves in the comments. No deeper conspiracy at work here...just FUD

"... it is footage sent to us directly from Microsoft. Our video editing team used some old E3 footage by accident and we corrected it and put the new footage in from Xbox One. Hey we are human and make mistakes sometimes. It was never our intention to mislead, which is why we fixed the mistake and put the corrected video up."

can this be put in the multi forum? why is it in the PS4? I want a racing game at launch and not sim racer so it looks like i might be getting this

This game looks beautiful for a next gen title, and it's ten times funner than Driveclub and Forza. You just can't beat Need for Speed.
