And Sony would sell far MORE PS4 pro's if they would have added UHD Blu-ray, which would have been a very small additional cost for a big upside in value.

Xbox sales have nothing to do with either of those.

So your post is still irrelevant.
Link/proof of this? $399 Pro no UHDBR>$499 Pro UHDBR in SALES
Don't give me that it wouldn't add much to the cost of the Pro to add UHDBR crap either.
Maybe UHDBR didn't cost MS much but we can(rightly) assume a UHDBR player made by Sony would be a more feature filled/higher quality product.
So you mentioning sales is still irrelevant/wrong and you are assuming..well I can assume as well and I did when I said Pro will outsell the Scorpio.
Here is some more for you...
If Scorpio is $499 its life will be short lived.

VALL - to be clear - my contention is:

1. A PS3 which cost $175 less to build (no Blu-ray) could have been sold for $175 less out the gate, without any hit to game quality, and would have resulted in Sony selling far more.

2. A PS4 pro with UHD (and the same price tag of $399) would sell much better than a PS4 pro without UHD blu-ray support.

I know exactly how much each component costs, and it is not a "line" to say it would not have cost Sony much to have added UHD support; it's a fact.

Therefore, Xbox sales is in no way relevant to either contention.

Your post is still irrelevant.

Finally, how much Scirpio costs is also irrelevant.

If you want to have a discussion, you need to stay on topic. Sound good?

It is NOT a fact and this convo shouldn't continue unless you can provide facts.

Pro uses additional memory you were wrong admit it.
I don't care about Scorp and the rest of this post.

I am 100% correct that Pro has no more memory than PS4 vanilla.

Both have 8 gigs of ram.

Is it confirmed that more of that identical ram amount is available to pro games? If so, where is the proof?

Even if pro does allocate more for games, notice that in no way invalidates the factual statement "PS4 pro and PS4 vanilla have the exact same amount of ram".

Pro will use more Ram than the normal PS4 which=improved textures etc.
It's been stated by Sony that Pro uses an extra 512 mb of the 8 gb ram for games.

However, going by the previews so far, no Pro game has better textures yet. That Tomb Raider shows X1 quality textures. What vids do show so far is some better colours (assuming people believe it as the HDR pics can't translate well to non-HDR screens), and the frame rate may be a tad more stable. And of course you get a res boost to FauxK.... or as GAF members like to call 4Kinda.

But that's it. Even Horizon on Pro chugs at 25-30 fps. So who knows where all that extra power goes to aside from checkerboarding.

So, so far no Pro game has better textures.

Sony claimed Pro has an extra 512 mb of the 8 gb available.

Pro is more powerful, has an extra half gig for gaming, yet I await to see how much better looking these Pro games are. Sony is hoping people spend another $400. So let's see how much another $400 gets you.

Whew. Just got back from reading some GAF on this subject... What a bunch of cry babies. Seriously, if these machines aren't good enough, then wait the eight years for the next generation. Friggin' depressing...

Ya.

Sony is doing a mid-gen update after 3 years, MS after 4 years. Spec bumps only go so far in 3-4 years, unlike the usual 5 years of old gens (and last gen's absurd 7-8 years).

But when you compare the Scorpio to the original Xbox one, that's a dramatic jump in performance/specs

For sure. 1 extra year + MS isn't holding back being cheap. Scorpio doesn't look like it will sell a ton of units considering the expected price, but that's okay with me. I want an awesome system.

And unlike the old days of NES or PS1 domination where devs often released software only on 1 console platform, console gaming is different now. MS and Sony systems are so close in terms of target audience, and devs want as much money as possible porting to various systems that Scorpio will have just as many games as PS4.

PS4 already has sold about double the unit, yet X1 has just as many games. Devs wants the sales.

If this was the NES or PS1 or PS2 days, those systems would have 1,000 games and the nearest competitor maybe 300.

The PS4 Pro will be the best value for the next three years. You really can't argue that. Save all the 4k talk and UHD Blu-ray business. Sony is going to lock up the market with this thing.

It will be a great value for first time PS4 owners. For us potential upgraders, that remains to be seen.

$399 for double the resolution and maybe better framerates doesn't sound like a great value so far.

Yes to the 1st part IMO

I think $399 is a great value for over 2 x the power especially when the normal models are only $100 cheaper.

Is it worth it for a current PS4 owners? I think that's up to the individual.
The consoles should of launched with specs close to the Pro's.

Compared to $499 or more on the Scorpio for not much more than what Pro gives you sounds like a hell of a deal to me. Not to mention the games are just better on PS4. The only way i could see Scorpio being a better value is if you watch movies more than you play games.

So MS is claiming 4K for its 1st party titles.
Them saying this all but confirms 3rd party parity between the Scorp and the Pro.
Not sure how many 3rd party titles will build around both machines and offer similar res/fps etc but it will happen in some cases :)
Remember who told you about this 1st.

I am calling it now...
Pro releases probably next year with a bigger hdd and a UHDBR.

Yep. The PS4 is the market leader. No way devs go out of their way to piss off PS gamers with trashy ports. It was the same way when the 360 was market leader. There will be parity for third party games. Looks like Microsoft played themselves. Sony's first party devs will get the most out of the console. No worries there.

i dont know if you're kidding or not. But I'm serious.
Sony needs to demonstrate the value of upgrading.

Both do. But with Scorpio, it's more on the games side that they need to prove and improve.

I mean having 2k Sony games uprezzed to 4K will be awesome. But the PS4 already presents great image quality.

New Xbox hardware is more needed and welcome imo.

Not kidding. I think the PS4 Pro is a better value. Now and in three years. Unless Microsoft can match Sony on price. I doubt that's happening. If you really want true 4K gaming then you should just go PC. Or wait for Xbox 5 or PS5. These consoles aren't going to have exclusive games, in the sense that they have to run on vanilla consoles.

Both are pointless, it just depends on your point of view. Do you want blockbuster single player games with PS4 Pro? Or do you want blockbuster multiplayer games that you can also get on PC with better quality with Scorpio? The sales numbers will do the talking. One of my favorite quotes from Xbox fans last gen was gamers vote with their wallets.

People have really got to stop saying the just go to PC bulls***. We want it in a console for the same reason we've games on consoles this entire time. It's a tired and pointless argument.

I'd argue the pro makes far less sense outside of vr. The PS4 has the power and install advantage. And it's coming out earlier! The Pro should have represented a more substantial bump. If they couldn't do it this year they next would have made more sense, imo.

It makes much more sense for a new buyer (no brainer, really), but for an upgrader? Not so sure. I need to see one, but it is a bit disappointing when RotTR isn't even hitting 60fps in 1080p mode. As of now, anyway...

This post is full of lolz.

1. How can something be perceived as better value when you don;t even know the value of the other product.
2. "True 4K" is a lol term. Scorpio will be doing native 4K, which is what "True 4K" actually means. Scorpio, based on what we know right now, has the raw power for it....and 99% of PC games will be ports of Scorpio games anyway. The only thing PC will have over Scorpio is native 4K @60FPS.
3. Gamers do vote with their wallets, it was proved last gen and so far this gen.

You people are trying way to hard to talk up Pro and downplay Scorpio. It is pathetic.

Something tells me you haven't been reading threads lately or you just have the green blinders on lolz.

1. We know what Scorpio is going to do. It's a Windows 10 box, more like a PC than a console.
2. "Upscaled 4k" is a lol term. Pro will be doing 4K for some games. PC will always have many advantages over Scorpio and consoles in general. I'm not even a PC gamer and i know that.
3. Gamers will continue to vote with their wallets, like they always have and PlayStation has dominated 2/3 generations since going head to head with Xbox. Expect more of the same.

You people are trying way too hard to talk up Scorpio and downplay Pro. It is pathetic.
