Official Thread No Rest For The Wicked

Sound like a PR talk. I checked, and the game is on PS5. From his tweet, you would have thought the game was exclcusive.

It's no different than when Sony announces 50 new games at their shows that are all multiplatform, but never once mention Xbox...and some people assume they are exclusive.

I dislike (intentionally) misleading people, no matter who does it.

if it is not intentionally, I can give a pass.

Everyone does it, he’s very vocal in the Xbox community, has an Xbox podcast and goes to their events. You could say he’s a fan, but he covers more pc related things and blizzard/wow news, which some would say he’s a fanboy of the latter.

Oh, and let’s not forget, it’s coming out for PC too.

Misleading or just not disclosing all the info up front, you could say it’s click bait to look past said statement(s)? Or he’s just catering to the fandom he caters to?

Early access is coming on 18th on steam. I was going to get the game on early access until I heard its like only one chapter....

Omission can be also a kind of Misleading. If someone make a wrong/false statment, then its not misleading, it falsehood. Intentional falsehood is a lie.

With you on that.
I don't like playing most Early Access either. Because the time it comes around to release, I've already played a huge chunk of it.

I would be willing to play around with the first Chapter and then be done with it until final release.

I had Phantom Abyss on early access and loved it, but by the time it finally released it was a bit different and I've played so much of it and was pretty much done with it within a few weeks.

I'm not sure what I'll do when Hades 2 comes out for Early Release. That's a type of game play loop you could enjoy in early release.

That and ALOT of time your early access saves are not compatible with the final game meaning you have to start all over. Balders Gate 3 did that to people who had hours upon hours worth of saves.

The main purpose of these kind of Early access is for the players to test and feedback. There is a good chances your saves are wipe before release.

Otherwise, you are better off just wait for official release.

Jez is a Microsoft shill, if they didn't leak things through him nobody on social media would care about him, he knows what he's doing.

Mixed reviews on Steam already. 🤷‍♂️
From one of the reviews on Steam:

No Rest for the Oven. It still needs to cook, but there is a game here (which is more that I can say about other "games").

These are for the devs, off the top of my head:
- Add key rebinding as soon as possible.
- Add a "Quit to desktop" button. Can't have a PC game without that one.
- When speaking with NPCs, reading notes or kicking ladders, make it so the character does not need to face it to interact.
- Environment readability needs to be improved. Sometimes you can't see things like flowers/shrooms because they blend with the background colors.
- Camera sometimes moves in a position where you can't see your character.
- I get that the game should be hard, but it would be nice if the monster/boss attacks were better telegraphed. (Example: you should be able to see where a bomb flying towards you will land, a chime sound when you can parry, the autotarget dot should reflect what kind of action you can do to that monster, etc) This goes a long way towards improving how the combat feels.
- Movement (especially during combat) is sluggish. Not sure if enemies input read, but if they do, it would be nice for us to have animation cancelling when doing dodges, would make it more responsive.
- Consumables should be select-able on the fly in combat, not only from inventory screen.
- Durability is useless and has no place here. It does not add to any of the mechanics, it is just only a pain for the player and not fun at all.

This isn't an exhaustive list and I'll probably update it as I find more stuff, but all in all it's pretty decent for an Early Access game.

Happy to save my money. Was going to get but did not as I wanted to finish milestone for my writing work before buying.

After seeing some stream. I give it a pass for now.
