What resolution is is very simple. But some modern games are getting ridiculous with trying to be 1080p without actually being 1080p, especially the Xbox One games. Quantum Break requiring 3 previously rendered 720p frames means that it is using frames 99ms old, a whole tenth of a second. They just invented a whole new version of screen tearing much like Killzone Shadow Fall.
Cracking video. Resolution has been used as a weapon in the console wars. Yes it was handy to demonstrate the difference in power between PS4/X1 but as the guy in the video says, there's more to making a game look great than just pushing more pixels. My knowledge is very limited, I still just say graphics when it comes to describing how well a game looks but I've always said I would prefer devs use the power of these consoles to push great graphics than trying to hit some predetermined benchmark like 1080p.
Watching this vid demonstrates there's more tricks to saving overhead and making the clarity look better than just saying 720, 1080 or 4k would imply and things like global illumination do more to make a game look great than just pushing more pixels.

But hey, it gives PS gamers something to be happy about this gen. Although, they never dare try comparing PS4 games (especially resolution and effects) vs. a PC gamer.
If resolution was the be-all and end-all, then the best games would be whatever games play at 4k, while all other games played at lower resolutions are crap.
And all previous generations of games would be labeled as bad too, since they run on weaker lower res systems.
This post is coming from The biggest poster of resolution/fps differences in days of TXB PS3 vs XB360 and the most hilarious part is how small the differences were when your mouth was yapping then compared to now were you aint got nothing to say.
LOL. You should read my post again. But not surprised you are confused. Your problem is you think more resolution = more fun.
Differences between console versions will always be there. It's been there since the Atari 2600 days (and even before that). No matter what a dev does, there will always be differences somewhere.
But that doesn't mean the weaker version isn't still a good game. Only people like you take gaming forums serious and get hyper.
Just like CoD. Last gen it was played the most, sold the most and a solid shooter. It ran at among the worst resolutions out of all games at about 1,000 x 600, when almost all other games were a standard 720p. Nobody noticed or cared about it's 600p res.
If I cared that much about res, I wouldn't bother playing CoD or Oblivion. Oblivion was another sub-720p game.

You'd be a happier guy if you sat back and enjoyed playing games. So sit back and play your PS3 and Vita.... oh wait, you said on TXB you sold your PS3 for a Wii and Vita for a Wii U.
Or sit back and enjoy your powerful PC rig (which you claim to have.... I think you even boasted by posting a pic of it one time). So play that with its superior graphics and high res LCD screen, which is better than any X1/PS4 game.
As a long time gamer, that leads to another tip you should follow. When you buy a game system, give it a chance and don't sell it after 8 months (like your Vita).

You people must PAY for what you did to VaL on TeamXbox. You rubbed his nose in it every time the best console ever, Xbox 360, had the best performing version of a game and now it is retribution.

He may be down and out and looking for revenge, but he doesn't realize that graphics/res wars are a one-sided affair..
Xbox gamers don't really care if a multiplat game is inferior. If they did, they wouldn't bother with a console to begin with and would be playing PC. If I cared that much, I'd still be playing Unreal Tourney on PC like in 2001 and skip PS2, 360 and X1. And the monitor I had was churing out resolution higher than last gen... although I'm pretty sure I wasn't playing 1080p back then.
On the other hand, hardcore Sony gamers are puzzling. They boast superiority this gen when comparing games, but ignore the best performing platform of them all..... PC.

The longer this gen goes on the more tricks developers will use. Unless everyone buys the updated consoles. Lol
You know I wasn't referring to the Wii U...which actually is a fight review score wise compared to the XBO/PS4.I know, man.

Not that I really care about the console war, but it will be interesting to see how each manufactures updated hardware stacks up. I hope Val can still boast about a hardware advantage. Hopefully NX is a beast. Lol
One thing I am positive about is NX will not be a super powerful system. Nintendo has a trend lately of making gimped systems and I see no change to that. The games they make don't require the biggest specs and I doubt the avg MS/Sony gamer is going to flock to a Nintendo system because most third party games are gimped to begin with, or they don't even bother making it for a Ninty system.
Nintendo knows that, so there is no point. That's why Wii and Wii U have focused on gimmicky gameplay, as opposed to specs and enticing third parties to porting over key games other platforms get.
Their biggest problem is image and first party titles. If people love Mario and Zelda that's fine. But because it's a family friendly type of first part library, gamers who care more about the broad spectrum of games from MS, Sony and PC won't bother with a Nintendo system unless they are willing to spend money on those small number of key Ninty franchises.
