One Piece - Live Action

Aren't there like almost 1000 episodes of that show? lol

Also, did the Anime actually get ahead of the Manga and just go on with it's own story writing?
I know it’s over 1000 chapters/volumes now, of the manga…honestly, I haven’t watched the show, but it’s gotta be doing something right

The manga has wins a bunch of awards.

I’m glad the creator is the executive producer on this and seems to be really involved with the development.

they should hire badmonk :)

I am on episode 263 and it’s great! slept on this for years and so glad I got into it. To do it justice they should have a solid stunt and VFX team and of course a great director and crew. It’s gonna be heavy on VFX and I hope to god it’s good.

This actually just took over Batman as the most read comic book series of all time. The anime is in the top most watched tv series in the world.

I've been working with Tomorrow Studios and Netflix for quite some time now. Even though they understand each of the characters, we obviously come from very different cultures so, when it comes to entertainment, we have different codes, skill sets, and aims. Sometimes it could be frustrating for both sides. It felt like, "We're all trying to get to the same place so how come we're not on the same wavelength?" there was even a time when I thought, "Is a foreign production even possible?!"

Now, this might seem like it's coming out of nowhere but…we've been hard at work this entire time. And now, each and every entity involved is working in sync. We're finally here!! Considering my expected life span, I believe this is the last chance to bring ONE PIECE to the entire world. If we're going to do it, I want to be able to supervise things while I'm still active. That's why I agreed to the live-action adaptation of one piece back in 2016.

Since then, Netflix has committed enormous resources to the production. It was announced that the show will launch in 2023, but they've promised that we won't launch it until I'm satisfied.

The entire cast and crew, spanning various countries brimming with love for ONE PIECE!! They're burning with passion, and I've reminded everyone involved that this should be fun.

We're in the final process! Right now! Of finishing all 8 episodes! We'll be setting sail very soon!!

I'm not that familiar with One Piece, but have wondered for a while during the endless Marvel super hero movie machine if Anime / Manga adpations would be a next niche trend. I enjoyed Netflix's take on Cyberpunk and some of their other anime offerings that I really hope get renewed.

Hopefully, this works out better than Cowboy Bebop.

Hollywood have been trying to make anime/manga adaptations a thing for a while now. Some good, some bad, but it rarely is a success in the box office. I hope it works out, maybe an Alita sequel would get greenlight if anime movies started to "become a thing." Personally, I find that anime movies yield better box office results when the actual 2D animated films are released in theatres. They have limited runs, but tend to do well. I'm surprised no Hollywood exec has caught on to the stats and pushed for a 2D animated anime movie with a traditional release, or even a CGI animated version come to think of it. I suppose they did try with Astro Boy.

I am up to date with One Piece Anime (ep 1065 😳) and it’s amazing! This trailer wasn’t that bad tbh, I was pleasantly surprised.
The action and VFX have to be top tier to pull this off. I hope they can do it! Unfortunately as I work in this industry I know sometimes there is too many chiefs so even if the stunt team delivers some great action they might shoot and edit it completely different so it then becomes a train wreck.

Luffys a rubber man so he is kinda like Mr Fantastic so obviously that has its own complications. Apparently I read this budget is on par with game of thrones so there is no reason it won’t look good in the VFX sections. Just needs to be cool choreography, stylised and shot/edited well.

Watched the first 2 episodes and this show far exceeds my expectations. Kinda reminds me of Jackie chan movies with goofy dialogue and action but in a good wqy.

Really enjoying it.
