Ozark (Netflix Series) **SPOILERS START PAGE 2**

Amazing. Just amazing. Fantastic show and ending. Some fantastic acting too.

World doesn't work that way.

Since when?
Vic really did lose it all to stay out of prison. The Byrds paid a pretty small price. Marty did care about Ruth but they tried to force a resolution between her and Wendy after years of Wendy hating her and it didn't work at all.

I mentioned The Shield a few days ago because I thought that is exactly what they were going for but in that case Ruths death should have led to the kids finding out and leaving them. Ruth dying feels like more of disappointment for the audience than the characters on the show

Ruth died because she was looking for justice in a world where nobody hardly ever gets what they deserve. The point is that anyone looking for anyone to get what they deserve was going to be disappointed. The last line of the show summed it up. The world doesn't work that way.

And yet the world did work that way.

That last line is as vague as the final shot itself.

By the way, I re-watched the ending and there's zero doubt what happened. The kid is clearly aiming at the PI, and he even looks over at Marty and he gives the slightest of nods. Earlier in the episode Ruth mentions what happens when the kids turn into their parents. Not long after here we are. It is a very pessimistic view of the world and morality. The only character acting with a little purity of intention is the PI and he's even got his own agenda. It is very anti-karma and basically winning or losing comes down to skill and smarts, an no sense of right or wrong.

Finally put off watching the last four episodes this weekend, didn't want it to end but couldn't keep trying to avoid spoilers lol. Really sad to see Ruth die but I'm sure they figured her death would have the most impact. It's obvious who Jonah was pointing at, Marty was even starting to smile a bit when Jonah came out with the gun, it was pointed at the PI and Jonah never changed his target. As the final episode started, I was thinking back to earlier seasons and how Jonah was killing animals when they first moved there and was carrying that gun around, this seems to kind of make that come full circle. I was glad to see Navarro die, I had been wanting to see that through most of the series.

I do have some questions though, the daughter seemed totally fine with how things were going and then she jumped at the first change to leave with the grandfather, that didn't make much sense. Also, Wendy and Clare seemed awfully chummy for two people that don't like each other when they were having that conversation about where the family was going to live in Chicago.

The actors on this show all did a great job and I also love that they cast people with average looks and sometimes below versus casting a bunch of model types. They didn't go out of their way to make Wendy even look like she had makeup on most of the time, the kids were average looking, Navarro's sister looked like someone you'd see walking on the street here. When it comes to appearances it all seemed very grounded, hell Wyatt looked like a living Zombie and Darlene looked like she was half alive and half dead lol.
