An HD remaster of an original JRPG released for the Sega Genesis back in 2010 by Watermelon Studios. As weird as that sounds, they really did develop and release this cult hit modern retro game for the legacy console, the Sega Genesis, in the late year of 2010, and the release of the HD remaster was made possible thanks to a very successful kickstarter launched to bring the game to current and next generation consoles in full HD. The HD Remaster is currently out for PS4, PS3, and PC. Xbox One, Xbox 360, Mac, Linux, Wii U, Sega Dreamcast, and Ouya versions coming later this fall at an unannounced time. That is a lot of platforms to release on! Links below for PS4, PS3 and PC versions.

I know nothing about this game but it looks fantastic. For anyone who has played it, do you think it's worth $15? If I didn't have too many games to play already, I would probably pick this up.

I haven't played it yet, but they have been advertising it as a 50+ hour game. From everything I've seen from all of the news and media released, the game quality looks like a Final Fantasy VI but bigger due to a modern development budget. Reviews seemed to praise it. And the game is cross-buy for Playstation as well.

Has anyone played this yet? I was searching through the PS Store for something to play down the road and found this. Looks really neat.

I haven't heard word of anyone else playing it, but I have the game and got to play quite a bit of it on PS4. I like the idea behind the combat. The game however does not explain the combat, but I still found it easy enough to experiment and learn it while still in the early stages of the game. And the game has a simple but useful "notebook" feature in the game's pause menu that reminds you of your current task, which is something that all SNES JRPGs sorely lacked. So far for me, getting through the game has been just using common sense to make it through, but I'm sure I'll fall back on walkthroughs eventually. There should be a demo on PSN if you want to try it out. If no demo on PSN, definitely try the Steam demo. And for improved visuals, go into the options in the pause menu and select "HD+" By default, the visuals are set at only "HD" which has pixelelated characters versus having the pixels smoothed out.
