So I couldn't see a thread for this (please delete if there is mods)

This appears to be an upgraded version of the current PC build (as stated in the official XBOX UK magazine) which I just read in my garden after a long day of taking a chillax with the current UK weather :)

I believe that this one title (and ASHEN) will be a system seller for console gamers....

Yeah This is Mike Ybarra game. He plays this all the time on his Windows and stream on Mixer.
I know this is going to be a 60 fps title because Mike Ybarra wants to play this.

I thought this looked fun but how does it work? Something like Hunger Games?

When this game was first unveiled at E3, I thought it looked real generic. Then I heard people freaking out about it. Did some research. Found out it's sold 4 million copies in its Preview stage and that it's one of the most popular games being streamed. After watching streams on the game, it's one of my most anticipated games of 2017.

It looks like a shooter but plays more like a multiplayer survival horror without the monsters.

I've been holding off on buying the PC version since this was announced, so hopefully this drops soon.

Yeah very similar to that. You and many other people are dropped into a gigantic map in teams of 1 or 2. Scrounge through environments to find stuff to help you survive. You'll spend more time doing that and finding good hiding spots than shooting. After a certain amount of time, the environment radius you have to play in shrinks. If you don't get inside the radius, you lose health and die. So it forces players to eventually condense into smaller and smaller areas.

What's cool are the mind games and strategy. For example, walking up to an open door or jeep that's been abandoned in a weird spot will make you wonder if someone is creeping close. Leave a downed enemies loot on him for bait. Instead of killing an enemy immediately when you see him, follow him and let him expose the traps others have planted on the map. You can still take his stuff when he dies.

Looks awesome I can't wait to play it. If it really looks that good graphically I will be shocked though.

So when you die, what do you do?

Do you start another match?

Sometimes you come back as a vengeful spirit, led by a crow who will help on your quest to kill those that wronged you.

Holy sh*t you saw that porn too?!? I thought maybe I dreamed it.

BTW I can't believe they are re-making that.

Yep essentially. Usually any XP/rewards will be added to your character when the game completes, even if you return to the lobby to look for a new game, after your character dies. A few games use this mechanic, like world of tanks for example.

There better be a time limit! I can picture some people dying at their desks while the last two players are on day 3 of being stubborn snipe-campers.

Dodgeball with guns.

Wow, didn't know. That's a bold move.

Thats the cool part, the game forces your hand.

Chicken dinner is a hell of an incentive.

One of the game types had a shrinking map with semi-visible barriers that would slowly focus in on less and less territory. Basically it ultimately forces people to closer and closer quarters.

That game mode sounds really interesting. I was watching a video of how it works and it looks pretty frantic.

Yes, it's really a great idea. It allows for big maps but limits the amount of camping/sniping people can do.

Thanks for the responses guys.

The gaming community sound really tight around this game too, and the developer seems to give a f***. This is about the PC version, but I think it may relate.

PUBG announces weekly Facebook livestream series to 'bring fan base closer to development team
As PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' popularity continues to skyrocket, developer Bluehole has announced a new weekly exclusive Facebook livestream series that aims to "showcase different elements" of the open-world battle royale MMO.

Starting tonight at 7pm-10pm PST/the early hours of tomorrow at 3am-6am BST, the first stream will be hosted by one of Bluehole's community managers. From thereon livestreams will alternate hosts "between content creators from the PUBG community" and some of Bluehole's community managers.

"This new initiative with Facebook will bring our passionate fan base closer to our development team," says Bluehole VP and executive producer Chang Han Kim in a statement. "Livestreaming has been very important to the growth of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. We believe that featuring PUBG livestreamers on Facebook further strengthens our commitment to the community while extending the reach of our game to a global audience."

Leo Olebe, director of global games partnerships at Facebook, adds: "Facebook and the Bluehole team have a shared belief in the power of gaming communities, and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is a stunning example of a hit game guided directly by its fans. Battlegrounds is just as much fun to watch as it is to play, and we’re excited to see some of the best PUBG creators bring exclusive content to Facebook to help fuel its growing community on the platform."

Damn, This is a sleeper, I think! looks great. Funny, I glossed right over it as nothing during the MS conference. Apparently an Xbox console exclusive.

This is one of the reasons I'd rather play this on Console- Locked settings/even playing field. In this guide to the game, the guy recommends setting foliage to low- obviously to make it easier to see enemies. It's a cheap move, and actually diminishes game-play, as you can't use foliage as a viable concealment.

Yep, crap like that is the #1 reason I prefer playing on consoles and never want crossplay outside of casual or co-op experiences. That and I still prefer controller-only matchmaking. Console gaming over PC gaming isn't based on price for me.

Should be the next big Xbox Live game. The PC crowd has been raving about it for awhile now. Think the dev already said it's 30fps on X1 though. That's unfortunate.
