When do Black Friday deals usually start on Playstation?
Wondering the same thing. Was trying to find an original PS5 console with $50 knocked off or something. Wanted to pick up a console for my brother-in-law who is battling Stage 4 esophageal cancer and under going treatment. If I can't find a deal this weekend, probably just pull the trigger and get it at regular price.

My guess would be deals start to show up next week. Still 2 weeks away from black friday, but I think basically half the month is "black friday" now.

Just found out I'll be getting some back pay thrown in my paycheck the day before Thanksgiving.

The COD bundle comes out Nov 10. And I believe the Spiderman 2 bundle is / was available from PS direct where you get the game for free ?

Anyone have the PS5 Media Remote? If so, what do you think?

My dedicated UHD / Bluray player is having issues at the moment, using the PS5 in the interim. Using controllers to watch media is crazy annoying to me.

“If you want to play PC games with the same GPU [graphics processing unit] performance and so forth as the PS5, you have to spend money and time to build your own PC,” Nishino said. “While doing so can be rewarding, a dedicated console allows any player to enjoy games of the same technical level right out of the box.”

Which is why I game on Xbox and PS.

@DriedMangoes wheres the ps5 pro thread? Did some searches but all I get is the ps4 pro 😆

————————————

Existing information
New information:
  • Viola is fabbed on TSMC N4P.
  • GFX1115
  • Viola's CPU is maintaining the zen2 architecture found in the existing PS5 for compatibility, but the frequency will once again be dynamic with a peak of 4.4GHz. 64 KB of L1 cache per core, 512 KB of L2 cache per core, and 8 MB of L3 shared (4 MB per CCX).
  • Viola's die is 30WGPs when fully enabled, but it will only have 28WGPs (56 CUs) enabled for the silicon in retail PS5 Pro units.
  • Trinity is the culmination of three key technologies. Fast storage (hardware accelerated compression and decompression, already an existing key PS5 technology), accelerated ray tracing, and upscaling.
  • Architecture is RDNA3, but it's taking ray tracing improvements from RDNA4. BVH traversal will be handled by dedicated RT hardware rather than fully relying on the shaders. It will also include thread reordering to reduce data and execution divergence, something akin to Ada Lovelace SER and Intel Arc's TSU.
  • 3584 shaders, 224 TMUs, and 96 ROPs.
  • 16GB of 18 gbps GDDR6. 256-bit memory bus with 576 GB/s memory bandwidth.
  • The GPU frequency target is 2.0 GHz. This lands the dual-issue TFLOPs in the range of 28.67 TFLOPs peak (224 (TMUs) * 2 (operations, dual issue) * 2 (core clock)). 14.33 TFLOPs if we ignore the dual-issue factor.
  • 50-60% rasterization uplift over Oberon and Oberon Plus, over twice the raw RT performance.
  • XDNA2 NPU will be featured for the purpose of accelerating Sony's bespoke temporal machine learning upscaling technique. This will be one of the core focuses of the PS5 Pro, like we saw with checkboard rendering for the PS4 Pro. Temporally stable upscaled 4K output at higher than 30 FPS is the goal.
  • September 2024 reveal

LMAO at thinking the Pro will be 28TFlops.

You'll be lucky to get that in the PS6.

I just want it to play my blurays, and some games 😆

But if that’s in the ps6 that’s gonna be one chunky boi

Here you go.

I can see over 28 tflops especially since the 4080 is over 64 tflops and the 4090 is over 100.

With tech advancing this rapidly, I think the 4.4ghz rumoured cpu is also a tame upgrade. Hoping AMD brings more of the 7800x3D architecture into that .

So, with the Insomniac leak we know they are years away from releasing a new game. Wolverine was the most seen game expected in 2024 (not coming until 2026) so with that disappointing news and officials news of LoU Factions being cancelled I have a question....

What First Party studios have a good chance releasing a game in 2024?

Concord was targeted for 2024 too ? Maybe.

We don't have much confirmed at the moment unfortunately.

It looks like Sony is trying to get second and third party exclusives to mull them over in the meantime while first party continues to work.
