The $299 headset is not from MS, but one of the four partners, using a set of MS Win Holographic standards. It seems like there is a second set of "standards" that both MS and Intel are working on together. This is an AR/VR standard. (Intel is calling it Merged Reality, while HoloLens was called Mixed Reality)

And it's going to be Opensource, which should open the floodgates of support.

I've always disliked white consoles, to me they look like toys no matter what they are shaped like. They also don't match with the other things in the entertainment center either. I always like them to be black or gray.

I really like my Blue Xone S and Blue PS4 (Uncharted 4 edition). I prefer the PS4's blue (Cool Blue-gray) as opposed to my S's (blue-green).
Still, it's a minor thing.

Thread is on fire. I'm pumped. Brady got his 5th ring thanks to Nintendo's timely Switch ad and now Xbox is about to return to prominence with Scorpio. What a time to be alive.

All I can say information are coming out and we have a few months and things are getting a bit crazy!
Can't wait to get my hands on the most powerful console ever!

I got the "Storm Gray" BF1 Xbox One S. It was only sold through MS store and Walmart, for some reason. I personally think it looks better than any of them. It would have been a much better default, anyway. That blue GoW4 one was my second fav. Just a, little weird shade of blue, but it's OK.

I hope they bring on the options for Scorpio, in both color and HDD.

Also, HDMI 2.1 is just around the corner, and requires new hardware. It has an insane bandwidth increase. They had better include it now! It finally allows for frame rates over 60fps... up to 120fps!

HDMI 2.1
  • The physical connectors and cables look the same as today's.
  • Improved bandwidth from 18Gbps (HDMI 2.0) to 48Gbps (HDMI 2.1).
  • Can carry resolutions up to 10K, frame rates up to 120fps.
  • New cables required for higher resolutions and/or frame rates.
  • Spec is still being finalized, expected to publish April-June 2017.
  • First products could arrive late 2017, but many more will ship in 2018.
Also note:"Game Mode VRR" is a potentially interesting feature for gamers. It allows for "variable refresh rate, which enables a 3D graphics processor to display the image at the moment it is rendered for more fluid and better detailed gameplay, and for reducing or eliminating lag, stutter and frame tearing." In other words, there will be less of a buffer for frames while the video card creates the image so you won't have to choose between image artifacts and input lag, ideally reducing both.

Fable IV. As is pretty unusual, they didn't announce it was a new IP.

If it uses the Horizon Engine that would indicate a Microsoft game as thats their proprietary engine (Forza Engine, originally created by Rare)

I have a backlog of games that I'm hoping get the Scorpio upgrade. Still barely played Fallout 4 or Doom 3. Would like an excuse to play Witcher 3 again. Hope they give Mass Effect the 4K treatment.
 
Thats good, but is says IP, singular. I think many are EXPECTING plural.
