THIS IS A DISCUSSION OF HOW SOME GAMERS ARE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF GOFUNDME AND USING THEIR E-POPULARITY FOR FINANCIAL GAIN TO HELP WITH THEIR PROBLEMS INSTEAD OF MANNING UP AND DEALING WITH LIFES PROBLEMS THEMSELVES

He's apparently had a rough couple of years and wants 6K of your money, 1200 of which he wants to use to buy a new PC and capture device............................................

So he's out of a job and asking for money to pay his rent and utilities. And a PC capture card. Something tells me this guy's priorities aren't quite right.

Not even just a capture card, an ENTIRE 1200$ PC!!!! but yes exactly what I am getting to....................

If you look at the bottom it says if you donate more than 20$ he will:

"I'LL DO A FT5, FT10 SET IN ANY STREET FIGHTER GAME ON ANY CONSOLE SYSTEM YOU GUYS WANT ME TO VS YOU"

Whatever the hell that means but it sounds like he still has game consoles, if he was really that desperate he would have sold them. I know I would have.

I bet he will get his 6K, he will use his E-Popularity and people will blindly donate, I've seen this happen way too much.

Does anyone remember the guy who streamed on Twitch who was apparently "paralyzed and wheel chair bound" and make a living off of twitch donations? One day he accidentally stood up and walked away on his stream and he was immediately deemed a fraud and everyone wanted their money back.

I dunno, it's strange situation. I've seen YouTube Gamers who actually live on income from posting gameplay videos and reviews. Most of them rely on revenue through YouTube, but some will include an extra Donation Button.

Also, there are the Early Release games on Steam. You get an incomplete game, but your money will support the Devs completing the game.

This seems like an extreme example, but maybe he can turn his experience into a means to earn a living if he has established followers. Especially if he really does have an established audience. Not sure I see anything wrong with this as long as he isn't deceiving people.
 
A fool and their money are soon parted. Bully on him, I am sure there are countless go-fund-me's out there of people asking for cash. If I told you that you could put a bucket outside your door and people walking by would drop cash into...would you do it?

Not everyone would say yes but I would not hold judgement against those who would.
 
If people are willing to give him money for such thing things then I say crack on.

Gamers are easily parted with their money. They will buy way over priced games/content. They will pay people real money to achieve something for them in a game. They will pay for accounts that people spent years building just because they want everything.

There was a girl at my college who set up a page just to get donations. FOR NO f***ING REASON might I add. Had college paid for by parents and just wanted extra spending money.
She made $7,000. :meh:

Yeah she was hot and easy on the eyes but damn are people super dumb with their money.
This guy is a parasite.
 
All I ask of people requesting money through donations is complete transparency and honesty.

People are free to donate or not based upon the cause, if money if pledged but then used for something completely different or the original pitch was false then it becomes an issue.

By the same measure, I don't get the ire and animosity against someone like pewdiepie for becoming a multimillionaire YouTube personality. The guy is a success and more power to his elbow. He has leveraged a huge viewership to make an equally huge amount of money through ad revenue, he is a better businessman than most out there.

Crowd funding can be a good thing, but it can also be bad thing if there is dishonesty at the heart of the request or how the money is spent. Being totally straight and honest about why you are begging and what the money will be used for, then sticking to that is the most important thing.

The answer is already in your post. He gets hate because people are jealous. He did something most can not do, and he amassed a sum of money that most will never see in their lifetime.

If people want to waste their money giving it to streamers then it is their choice. I am not sure it is right for us to sit here and judge them for it.

They earned it, they can spend it however they wish.
 
I have no problem with it as long as he's honest about what he's using the money for. It is one thing to scam people and say you are sick or something.

I mean if people like his steam and want to chip in a few bucks to get him a new PC... so what? I think it is silly to pay people to watch them play video games, but it is a free country.
 
Can't find the video but i saw it awhile ago. Some guy doing an experiment in NYC, asking for money with a sign that says he needs it for weed and alcohol. People kept giving him donations, saying stuff like "Do what you need to do man, god bless!" Then he has a sign asking for money that says him and his daughter are homeless with the girl laying on his lap and nobody donates. People are f***ed up, lol.

I lost my job 4 months ago and i'm not asking anyone for money. If my money runs out and i'm still out of work i'll just suck it up and cut back on the things i blow money on. Asking for donations for the stupidest reasons is one of the lowest things you can do as a human being.

I guess they do it because begging on the internet is slightly less humiliating than begging in person. And apparently more successful (sometimes).

I will judge them as dumb f***s cause they are. are you so f***ing lonely that you're going to give some cam whore playing a game money so you can smack the joystick while watching. Again go to a cam whore site they will use a joystick on themselves for the same money.

You brought up "cam whore"--not sure why this woman is a cam whore-- but male streamers get lots of money as well.

Truth is, you have no clue why these people give money to these people. All you are doing is judging them based on your own wild speculation.
 
If they're raking in multiple thousands of dollars streaming gameplay I don't know if I'd exactly call them dumb fvcks...

You label this one a whore for wearing a low cut top, a style of top that woman wear on a daily basis for all manner of activities. Perhaps she simply likes this style of top.

Like I said, you are judging people based on your own speculation. All I can gather from this speculation is that you do not like women very much, or at least you hold a very low opinion of them in general.

Why not get a f***ing job instead of begging online? You have a child and your worried about getting an entire 1200 PC? That 1200 dollars could be used for some many other more important things. I just find it silly that people can no longer deal with lifes problems without asking for money from others. He lived with his mom until he was 31 and probably would still be living with her if she were still alive, there is some serious priority issues going on...................

There is so much wrong with these few posts...

Are women the only people making money from streaming? Do they not have sufficient skill? Are there no men that have utilized their looks in the gaming industry? Is every woman who wears a tank top a whore? Or just ones who are successful and make money from a stream?

I'm willing to bet you could make money by getting you junk out while gaming, but until there's a woman controlling a joystick with her clitoris on twitch, you just sound offensive, and your argument holds no grounds.

Now, you can be the first man to hit a 100hit combo on street fighter V only using your prostate. See if that works. Until then, stop calling female gamers whores.
 
In the grand scheme of things, if people want to give people money for legal things I thought were stupid, as long as they're not lied to in order to get that money. Heck, if I thought I could get a thousand dollar donations for flopping around my man boobs (while I still have them), I'd consider doing it. I'm not sure I'd want to personally give a streamer money to support their family as a long-term thing, though there are some people I've watched on youtube who I would consider kicking in a small amount for to help them get a capture card/etc. because I feel like I've derived enjoyment from them for it. None of them actually seem to solicit donations, though, and that may be part of the reason I enjoy them - I'd probably just stop watching if I looked at a video and it was "please subscribe/upthumb/donate/whatever" nonsense.

I think that has to do with people perceiving honesty. Someone saying they just want weed and alcohol gets ups for being "honest". There is an automatic skepticism for the "SOB" story beggars.

One, there are places to go if you really need help. If you're starving and you need food and shelter, there are options. If you just want money, you panhandle. People are sick of hearing of pro bums who rake in money by begging. I remember when I was in college in Denver, reading stories of bums making more money in a day than I did working. There are people who get caught driving a Cadillac to their panhandling grounds. Those sorts of stories will sour people to handing out money for that sort of thing.
