Warning...a lot of words below.

So, I've always preferred the PS3 controller over the 360 controller. I hated the triggers, but felt that with looser sticks, and smaller deadzones, I was able to maneuver and be more accurate in shooters with the PS3 controller. The 360 controller, while it had better triggers, I hated the sticks.

Then along came the PS4, and I never had an XB1 to compare to. I liked the PS4 controller better than the PS3 controller, but still not crazy about the triggers. PS controller triggers feel like pushing down on a button rather than "pulling" on a trigger, which is what an xbox controller felt like. Not having an XB1, I naturally believed that the PS4 controller would follow suite as the PS3 controller, and be the better controller (imo).

Black Friday 2015 sale....I picked up an XB1 controller for my pc games. WOW. I think I'm in love with the controller. It just feels right. It feels awesome in my hands, much better than any PS controller. It's like it was made for my hands to cradle it. The sticks....doesn't provide as much resistance as the 360 controller, but isn't as loose as the PS controller....like, the best of both worlds. Movement and aiming....my god....it just feels right.

First game I started using it with was Fallout 4...I'm actually doing better using Fallout 4 using the controller than my G502 mouse. Again, it just feels right, natural fit, and combat goes down so much better using the controller.

Loaded up Titanfall, which I haven't played in awhile, tested using mouse on controller....and I held my own using the controller. Sure, I wasn't dominating in anyway, and went negative a few times....but that's no different than when I used the mouse. Using keyboard and mouse, I still sucked, and sometimes went negative. So honestly, I sucked, but I don't think it worsened my game, if anything...I think I may have done a "bit" better. Here's the kicker though, while it really didn't improve or worsen how I was doing....it did improve ten fold....my fun factor. I don't know, but I just had a blast using the controller, vs the mouse. It made a game I really didn't care for...fun.

Now, I did try Black Ops 3, my lawd...no fun at all, I was decimated using the controller, and my KDR is usually pretty decent using mouse. Aiming just didn't feel right, and I was smacked around like a fat, red headed step child (no offense to step children).

I'll be testing out other games, I already know that some games I prefer a controller, which I've used a 360 controller for, but I'm sure I'll enjoy them more with this new controller. I'll test out other games that I traditionally used a mouse for.

Anyway...Qbert ate crow this past week. The freaking thing is amazing. My bad to anyone that I doubted when I said the PS4 controller was better.

In my personal opinion, the XB1 controller is much better for shooters than the PS4 controller, but the PS4 controller fits more naturally in my big hands and is pretty much better for anything else.

Imagine how you would have felt if you bought an Elite instead! You'd be pwning erryone! I used a PS4 controller over the weekend. The thumbsticks are so loose and floppy compared to the Xbox One's controller.

I can't see myself spending 150 on a controller.

I hate the thumbsticks. They're slightly better than the PS3 thumbsticks, but they do feel too loose.

Now if only I can use this xb1 controller on the PS4...I'd be in heaven.

The PS4 controller is clumsy to me. I want the old DualShock back still because it's still the only small enough to fit my hands for my hardcore gaming needs. I don't want to have to pull off a reach-around just to pull off some of these button and joystick maneuvers.

I don't have any major complaints regarding either controller and find both a pleasure to use. I would strongly recommend anyone using a ds4 controller to ditch the factory sticks and replace them with the xbox counterparts(i paid a $1 for the set). They're much taller, concave, and more tactile...all lead to better grip/ergonomics and puts the ds4 as my preferred controller.

Quick question, I'm looking to use the xbox one controller and Microsoft wireless dongle for a pc rig I just purchased. Does the controller work only in game or can you navigate the Windows interface(Windows 10) without a mouse and keyboard? Sorry for hijacking your thread btw.

From where? Link?

Don't know about Win10, but if it's anything like Win8, then no, it would be in game.

For as good as the X1 controller is, the elite is even better.

MS put a ton of money into the controller and it shows.

Unless there is some magical button combination or setting to adjust then no, the controller works in- game only.

I think both x1/ps4 controllers feel cheap but are still good.

I prefer the DS4 over the X1 for twitch shooters, the sticks feel so loose on the X1 that I have to lower the sensitivity otherwise I'd be aiming all over the place.

They are. I picked up the reg controller a few days ago by accident and pushed the stick. I was like, "WTF! Why are the sticks so lose?" Then I realized I didn't pick up my Elite. Everything was ok again. Having said that, the DS4 sticks are even looser

Problem I have with my X1 controller is that the left stick has a developed a grove where the stick meats the rotation hole. It is making my left stick a little sticky.

So you're saying you've never touched an Xbox One controller until now? Not even at a store or a friend's house? You've missed out. All the talk about the DS4 making more improvements this gen and maybe it did but it's not better than the X1 controller. Microsoft has the controller perfected. I didn't think they could outdo the 360 controller but just the triggers alone blew me away. They feel amazing with every game you play. Bumpers were kind of a step back, they're a bit slippery at times. Analog sticks could be slightly bigger, but other than that the X1 controller is great.

Nothing wrong with the DS4 though. It's much better than the DS3 and that's good enough for me. I think the analogs are a little more comfortable than the X1's analogs after extended use but that's the only positive over the X1 controller. I hate that the DS4 controllers seem to wear down so fast. The rubber is peeling on the left analog stick of one of my DS4 controllers. I haven't even touched an X1 Elite controller yet. I know that's going to give me a nerdgasm when i do.

Pretty much my reaction when I first opened my Xbox and used the controller for the first time.

Happened again when I got my Lunar White controller with the grip padding and upgraded bumpers.

Jizzed in my pants when I got the Elite.

Yeah, I've played around in a store and my cousin's XB1, but it's not the same when you own it for yourself. I'm talking about personally using it in PC games, not fiddling with it in the store navigating through menus.

I don't want to touch the elite controller. I don't want to envy what's out of my price range right now for a controller.
