Yeah online only. And of course won't get a patch now to allow offline so at some point MS can just make it vanish.
The better question is why wasn't this out already. It has been over a year since the initial release when they were selling it.
By all accounts they had a skeleton crew as many had left just before the game released.
I got contacted over Xbox Live by one cause they saw me playing it 4 days before launch and he said he was leaving the week it launched.
So of all these shutdowns, one was primarily a mobile developer, one is being rolled into a different dev, and one is being shutdown, but was already a skeleton crew with some devs rolling onto other projects. It sounds like the only real loss here is Tango, which I imagine didn't have devs roll over as many were Japanese and likely would have had trouble integrating remotely.

They aren't going to put it on clearance just because of this.
I'm on record playing from launch, the game was NOT as bad as it was made out to be. Not by any stretch a 10/10 game but absolutely not a 3 or 4. It was fun solo but a blast to play with friends. I don't exactly know if hive mind from critics got this game early and doomed it from the start but it is what it is.
It's another case of a game being harshly criticized for not being what others wanted it to be. At launch for me it was probably a 6, but the FPS patch made a huge difference in terms of gameplay.
The game was pretty meh when I tried it out the year it launched. Was average at best but the group I played with said it was boring and couldn't find motivation to keep going. I think we spent a good few hours trying to get into the game in a span of 2-3 sessions or so.
