Hey guys maybe you can help a brotha out so to speak. I currently have a 39" LED 1080p set with 60hz refresh but it has what is called Clear Motion and that is 120. I was looking at upgrading to a bigger set now that I rearranged my room so I can fit a wider set in the area where my current Sammy is. A couple of sets a 46 Sammy, a 48 Vizio, and a 48" Sony. ALL 3 are 60hz sets the Sammy has the same Clear Motion 120 as my 39 does. The guy I bought it from last year said that if you go 40" or bigger you want 120hz cause it helps or eliminates lagging when you watch fast paced stuff like action films (with explosions etc) or video games. I would RATHER get a 120hz set but most are out of my $$$ range. Is what the guy at the store said right and I should just get a true 120hz set or stick with 60hz. I mostly play Blu Rays, watch HDTV from my HD box and I also play PS4 on it. I never noticed any type of lag or blurriness when I played PS3 and 360 games on the 39" 60hz set. FYI this is my bedroom TV if that helps (my bedroom is long and skinny it is not gonna be 'too much TV' for my room lol).

120hz isn't that important as the inputs only accept up to 60hz(Unless you are using a PC and want a 120hz monitor with 120hz input)but there is less of a blur/lowered motion resolution with 120hz sets and the smooth motion affect with gaming I would leave off as it can cause input lag...but looks great when watching sports.

For gaming look for low response time sets.

120hz is handy because it evenly divides into a number of common refresh rates, (30, 60, 24). Meaning you don't need to do any sort of framerate conversion you just hold the frame for longer then 1 cycle on the screen.
