Wanted to let people know I resigned as mod. I'm back to being a normal member like before.

I had various reasons, but the main ones were that moderating was taking too much time and energy that I needed for other parts of my life, and also that it required that I attend mostly to posts and threads I would normally just ignore, which decreased my enjoyment of the site.

Bottom line, a hobby turned into a chore. I turn to gaming for carefree enjoyment, relaxation, and forgetting of responsibilities. I need to keep it that way.

You helped a great deal getting things situated when moving over. It's appreciated. I think I would've felt the same way.

You were one of the worst mods on this site. The traffic on this site (by looking at speed that posts are updated) has obviously gone down since you were a mod. I used to give my Amazon affiliate dollars to Plainview, but no longer do because of you.

Because of mods like you, the future is things like Facebook and Twitter, and treehouse forums are basically dead. Thank you for your small part in ruining the internet.

On topic though, job well done Andy. Glad to have you as one of us though!

You were a good mod, Andy. I will miss you as a mod and welcome you back as a regular poster.

Andy was a good mod. Definitely put his effort in and put aside any bias. Mods like Andy make the forum better.

You did well trying to handle all us mental patients, tried harder than most would have. Cheers to that.

Now you can act stupid with the rest of us!

I can't wait to ban you.

Remind me to plot a mutiny.

Thanks, man. Sometimes I think I pissed people off by some action or another -- I admit I could be a bit sterner than other mods at times -- then people surprise me. You guys are a good bunch.

Which reminds me, I hope no one took any of my "disciplinary" actions personally. I was always just trying to guide discussion in a way I thought was best. I may have been wrong -- probably was at times -- but I was just trying to do the right thing, given how I saw things.

Woo hoo!

Glad XboxNeo was shown the door. One less troll to worry about. Nobody talks to Andy that way! :hehe:

I support Andy's decision in resigning. I'd rather see him around as a poster than a mod who quits the forums. The forums wouldn't be the same without him. You are a great man, Anderson.

ha, yeah, he was on his last legs, having been banned 4 times already, so he wasn't far from the perma-boot already. I'm grateful to Plainview for giving that to me as a retirement gift (I didn't ask for it, mind you, but I'll happily accept).

Thank you. I think you're overstating things a little, but I appreciate it. Thanks, Passenger. I don't know if I would've left, but I do know I wasn't enjoying myself anymore. I don't want to sound like I'm blaming anyone else or the forum in general. Other mods seem to cruise along and not have any issues. I think I have a driven sort of personality that didn't fit well as a mod. I like to get in there, shape and move things, and I tend to have my own ideas and be headstrong about them ("pig-headed," Jackie called me, lol). Someone who is more "go with the flow" would do better, I think, and not have the sense of frustration I did.

I am proud of a few things: establishing the PS and Nintendo subforums, getting "no personal attacks" into the rulebook, and keeping the PS subforum pretty clean.

You'll be back. You can't resist the call.

It's going to take me a while to make the transition back to normal member after 8 months as a mod, I'll tell you that. I still sort of have "the mind of a mod" when I look at things. I'll look at a thread and my first thought is, "Oh, this is going off the rails, someone needs to step in here," or I look up at my screen and wonder where the Report button went, little things like that.

I should add, in case anyone's wondering, that my resignation has nothing to do with any disagreement or conflict with Plainview or any of the other mods. We all got along very well. Plainview and the rest of the team have my complete respect and support.

I can tell you, it is a unique thing being a member again after being staff so long. I was staff at PSU, two years as Community Manager of the site and 6 yrs as forum staff. So 8 yrs total, and now I am a member there again. VERY weird. I get the itch to be back on staff from time to time, but they really f***ed me over so I doubt I ever ask to come back.

Thanks for the effort Andy. Your help during the big move was especially invaluable in getting us established here. Enjoy your time off. :-)

You'll be back. Just kidding. :) I'm sure it feels nice to be just a regular member who enjoys everything.

Wow, 8 years. Yeah, that would be hard to transition, after that long. I'd like to hear the story sometime of how they "f*cked you over," but I guess maybe later.

Yeah, I'm enjoying it. The biggest change is reading only what I want to read, and ignoring the rest. That makes a big difference.

Well, there's a mod seat open, so I'm sure Plainview will be appointing someone else to fill the spot soon.
