Sucks because I have 14 years of Xbox Live Gold, I am part of the dashboard preview and do the surveys, I am in Gigantic beta, I was in Fable Legends beta, and if you look at my Xbox Store purchases......:surprise::surprise::surprise:....where is the consideration????
Same here 14 years and I got is dog sh*t.

Fable Legends lol... :(

That was a damn shame with that game. That game improved dramatically when I last played it, which was right before it was cancelled. Graphics were up there with the reveal, if not better and gameplay/combat was tight as f*** at that point.
Fingers crossed

Saw an email from them saying "confidential" in the body, got all excited.... nothing.

So we blame you for fable...

5000 invites going out between today and tomorrow. They said that for the first test, they took people who were more active on the SoT forums.

Hopefully they loosen the criteria a bit for this one.

C'mon big money, no whammies!

Edit: 5000 MORE players. The last group of 1000 can play this time as well. Once you are in, you are in permanently for any future playtests.

This game wasn't on my radar but after watching those videos I'm really interested. Hope there's a lot of layers and depth so that it doesn't get too repetitive.

Visually it's one of the nicest looking games this gen. Hope they can use that engine to revitalize Perfect Dark, Conker and Banjo.

Argghhh still nothing. Did anyone here get one? Don't forget to check your junk email.

Does anyone have a good idea what the gameplay hook will be? I like the way this game appears in pieces but not sure what will keep gamers engaged. Games that require grinding need either a good payoff or need to make the grinding addictive. Preferably both. Will we be able to build cool stuff with the money we collect?

Already posted but this vid has the only real info I've seen that gives any insight into deeper aspects of the gameplay. So far it seems like a lot of potential, but I'm still not sure about it just yet:

Thanks for that Rollins. Yes, it does finally start to put together the gameplay but we can only hope that it is just a start. What they have seems very well crafted and thought out. The burning question is if this game is more than sea battles and fetch/return gold quests. Are we leveling up our characters? Are we creating outposts/hideouts/homes? Do we have resources to find/manage/trade? Are there specific quests/adventures/storyline? Are there activities like fishing/farming/mining? Are there leadership roles/mutiny/imprisonment? I'm sure I am missing more questions too!

Bottom line is there more meat?

Yep. That's still my main question. I like what they have so far and I believe this will continue to demo well. Is it something that people will want to put over 100 hours into though? There needs to be a core hook...something that brings people back. Also S ome options that gamers can chose to do when their friends aren't playing Sea of Thieves. Where's the challenge? What's it all build towards? Is combat fun?

Plenty of potential but a ton of questions.

I bet this is the kind of game they will continue to add content to. kinda like Halo.

I agree, but in a negative way. I think it's gonna be Street Fighter 5 all over again.

The game still feels like a Beta, and I think its largely because of the way you move. The view point looks like a drone floating around. Not having your hands on the screen makes it feel really detached.

And I'm not sure they entirely know what they want to do with the game. In saying that, I think Rare are one of the few developers that understand the magic of gaming, and pour love and nurturing into what they put out.

I think the reason why Sea of Thieves is so interesting is because we don't know who Rare is anymore. They've turned over their studio since they last made non-Kinect games. It's really a new studio that owns Rare's old IPs. That's it. So I'm approaching Sea of Thieves and anything that comes from Rare like it's a brand new studio making games. I like that they're trying to stick with the old Rare look and art style. Xbox needs a little more of that. Who knows how good these guys are at making non-Kinect games.

I think a good comparison is the most recent Doom game. Completely different guys who made that game from the ones who developed the original Dooms. Yet they understood how to capture some of the essence of the original Doom games. I'm hoping New Rare understands what old Rare did well and are able to capture that.

So, what is the consensus from anyone in the test?

I wonder how authentic the sailing sim is. Does having a knowledge of sailing tactics and wind aid in combat? That's pretty cool if so.

You can change the angle and furl of the sails as well as use the anchor to help make sharper turns.
