Blast ye', ye grog-snarking blowfish! We'll hang ye by the gibbet ye pox-faced swab!!

BTW-This URL is quite handy for brushing up on your pirate-speak...http://www.talklikeapirate.com/translator.html

I get "arse pirate" yelled at me all the time from bloated middle aged men driving past me. I need no translation!

I seriously have no idea what to make of my expectations for this game.

I hate most multiplayer games... but the water looks so cool! Pirates are cool! Being drunk is cool!

Rareltd: This is just a showfloor demo as due to long queues we can only offer people 15 mins to play. It's just a small slice of the world of Sea of Thieves. Check out our Cinematic Trailer for E3 to see more of the world

If anyone sees anything come forth about a limited or collectors edition of this title I have been holding off doing a preorder to see what may be offered. There is a lot of fun stuff they could do so I can't imagine them missing out on the opportunity to take our money.

It will be interesting to see how this game is received. I seems kind of like No Man's Sky but with wooden ships instead of space ships and islands instead of planets. Oh, and multiplayer. Are we just going to make our own adventure or is there actually a point to the game? Like doing missions and quests.

Hard to judge how successful it will be. Even if it's a great game, the cartoony look will turn off some gamers.

I watched some of the vids lately that promoted it. Man, some of the gamers paid to act is awful. Just as bad as RB6 Siege's team bantering as if they are a real life swat team.

Gameplay looks kind of shallow

I saw one vid where you can change the angle and furl of the sails to get more control.

Little things like being able to use the ship's anchor to achieve tighter turns, or how context sensitive the music the player plays is. I also like how if you have multiple players playing instruments together, they do so dynamically and add to each other.

You even have to comunicate just to steer because the helmsman can't see through the sails. He can if the sails are only half down, but you get less speed.

Seems like it will have plenty of depth to me.

Well according to the devs, the demo is a 'very small slice' of the full game. We'll find out soon enough.

DualShockers Gamescom Awards: Rare’s Sea of Thieves Steals the Show
SOT_E3_2016_Sailing-Screenshot-ds1-670x377-constrain.jpg

The press days of Gamescom have come to an end yesterday, and for now we only shared a fraction of the many, many games we saw. With only two public days left, it’s time to name our winners for the show.

As usual, remember that the winners below reflect our personal feelings and opinions. It’s perfectly ok if you disagree, and have your own list. As a matter of fact, feel free to post it in the comments.

That said, let’s get down to business, we have some stars to deliver.

Game of the Show: Sea of Thieves (Rare – Microsoft Game Studios)

It’s a little difficult to notice without playing it, but Sea of Thieves really has enormous potential. It looks gorgeous, and anyone can see that, but there is much more to it.

Naval combat is absolutely fantastic. It’s a mix of collaboration, tactical thinking and old plain guts. It definitely isn’t limited to just shooting your cannons. The helmsman’s prowess and the coordination of the men handling the angle of the sails to get the best out of the wind generate an extremely compelling gameplay mechanic.

The moment you manage to place your ship in a position that allows you to bring down a full broadside on an enemy while preventing them to shoot at the same time (a traditional maneuver that seamen call “crossing the T”), you’ll feel like a god. Try to resist the temptation to scream “FIRE!!!” into the mic if you can. I couldn’t.

A beta is coming, and soon many of you will be able to play is at well, but for now Sea of Thieves gets our golden star, and the most awards that we have ever given to a single game during any show.

I don't know if those guys were acting. Seems like they were trying to sound like some YouTubers.

Yeah, who knows. Seems like the kind of game you'd want to be over enthusiastic about to sell it, since it's not really showing much except the multiplayer aspect. I just really wonder what the hell we do besides getting drunk on a ship with some friends. I have faith in Rare though.

Yeah I hope there's more to it.

It wish it was a Fable'esque RPG + the sea battle parts.

If this was like Gears (not showing Horde until barely 2 months prior to release) I'd be slightly worried as a horde fan.

Since the game isn't going to be released for over 6 months they still have enough time to show everything else the game offers.
It's great though, and has me positively surprised, at all the love and awards it's gotten. They did a good job promoting this.
