Shoddy Dualshock 4 build quality

So I love the Dualshock 4, I think it's a great controller and it feels great. but oh man, it hasn't been a year yet and this thing is already falling apart.

Right now my R1 button sticks when pressed in (If you have this same issue chime in)

The rubber on my left analog stick is worn down quite a bit ( If you have this same issue, let me hear it)

And my R2 button basically won't pop all the way back up again because one of the hinges is broken. ( Anyone else?)

So anyone else having any of these issues? Especially the R2 one because that one is the most annoying. I have to go buy a new controller today because Destiny is coming out and I don't want that R2 thing screwing me up in Raids.

Yeah its my fav but its build quality is lacking.
Sony has secretly revised it already which is good for new buyers but not good for us early adopters.

I have the issue you talk of with your R1 button, but it is my L1 button.

I also had some analog stick wear but I put some stick covers on both my controllers now so that isn't a problem anymore.

Oh have they? Because I would hate to have to deal with this R2 problem again after I get the blue controller today.

It's a good controller, and I haven't had any quality issues with it regarding the physical build quality. No doubt I would need to use it more, like you do, in order to reproduce those problems. It SEEMS very solid to me. Battery life on the other hand....oh boy.

Mine is still in perfect shape but I have seen more than one person say they are having some issues with it.

I had the issue with the R1 button sticking a few times. It has nothing to do with it being dirty, it usually happens when you're pressing the button in by the edge instead of the center. I've never had an issue since after realizing what was happening.

You could also put some silicone spray on a q-tip or something small and work around in the edges of the button and it'll help stop it getting stuck. I had an issue with the home button on the original PS3 controller getting stuck, and the silicone spray stopped it entirely.

My R1 sticks too, from all the spotting on BF4.

Aside from that, it's held up better than my X1 controller that has loose plates on the back.

I have 2 and on both the L1,R1 buttons started to stick (a lot of pinball). I just popped them off, applied a touch of Teflon dry lubricant and they have been great ever since.

Well i just went to gamestop and had them replace my controller (i have warranty) then i bought a second controller (white). We will see how these hold up.

I was thinking of getting it but then I saw the white one and it looks pretty good. so I decided to go Ebony and Ivory with this.
IF you feel you have the time, can you post some pics of the white one! Would love to see them!

yeah man I will. And yes I have crappy camera on my phone. I live with it.

My launch ones are good so far. No problems here. Hopefully it stays that way.

I have these same issues. It seems commonplace with the PS4 controller. It needs some fixing.

There were some bad quality rubber at the analog sticks, at US launch, in some of the controllers.
Sony have improved the rubber quality after that tough, seen much less complaints about it lately. Both my controllers wich I bought at EU launch, seems fine.

Last I heard about, a month ago - were a person who lives in New Jersey had some issues with his controller that it didn't take the battery-charge properly, he contacted Sony support.
They didn't even ask where and when he bought it, just gave him some details to send his old controller to, and 3 days or so after he did that, he got his new one back. He were suprised of how smooth it went, since he had replaced his PS3 before.
He figured there were some kind of program in place to replace faulty controllers, or they're beeing extra nice during the first year, when everyone got a warranty. :-/

Mine is fine but haven't used it much to be honest. The most my PS4 has gotten use since inFamous came out is MLB.tv.

I was going to say something similar. My Ps4 maybe, maaaaaaybe, has 10 hours of total play time on it since I bought it in February. So my DS4 is still like new.

I recently realized the turn acceleration when I turn directly to the right doesn't work on my controller. Every other direction is fine, so I have to attempt to turn slight to the right and up or down to get it to work right. Really frustrating in multiplayer, as you can imagine.

Jaydee, how exactly does putting a warrantee on a controller work?

As someone who just switched out a Dual Shock 3-sized battery for the DS4's lousy one, I wouldn't hesitate recommending opening up the controller for any DIY type issue (when these start to exit their warranty period).

Armed with a Phillips Head [HASHTAG]#00[/HASHTAG] screwdriver and the knowledge from watching teardowns of the controller on youtube, the process may be much easier than you'd think.

The controller I bought from Amazon (they had a sale) has the rubber already starting to wear on it and I've only been using it for a short time. This leads me to believe that it's one of those controllers that have the shoddy rubber compound. So I ordered some cheap analog stick covers to resolve the issue. I wish I would have known about this before I bought the 2nd controller, though...

I heard that the Xboxone controller is 40% more reliable than the dualshock.:-->:
UnoIkidrite?:p

Just noticed my right stick starting to wear at the bottom. I'm going to blame it on NHL as I never noticed it before that game which is heavy on flicking up to shoot.

yeah I got two one of them the trigger makes this odd spring like sound when pushing it. The damn battery shocks me does not last worth a s***.

Yeah the battery is terrible. I'm a bit surprised it got past quality assurance. My xbox 360 on 2 AA regareables lasted weeks. I can use this thing up in a good day of gaming, not even. I blame that stupid LED light, mostly.
