That was hard. 14.3-plus miles (HM = 13.1).

Legs wanted to murder me.

How are you guys doing?

Awesome, man. Congrats. You'll be sore for a few days, haha.

I'm probably built for sprinting, or could be, but doing so at this point makes my legs want to split apart.

I should actually be fine by tonight. It's not as bad as it used to be and I just did a twelve-miler two weeks back. I do another fourteen-miler next Thursday, then a setback week, then two sixteen-mile weeks, setback, then eighteen miles with setbacks from there on out.

Damn man. Well, I can see that. I don't nearly get as sore after the gym as I used to. It just takes time for your muscles to adapt and once they do, the recovery time is quicker. But congrats again man, awesome.

What was your time?

2:49, for about 11:51/mile. Fine by me.

That's actually the cool part: going farther, recovering faster. I'll have an equalized run schedule in a month and a half or so and I'll just be able to build up endurance. I'm going for my first official HM in September, then the full marathon around Halloween.

Congrats on finishing.

I ran a mile on Tuesday and my shins still hurt like s***, i get super bad shin splints. I can walk or hike for miles 15+ miles but if i run, i'm done.

The longest I ran was I think about 8-9 miles. never a fan of running. I only ran as I had to, back in active duty. I was suppose to ran half marathon, but I was out of service before I could so.

In any case, I couldn't do any meaningful running anymore as my ankles have been destroy from poor way of walking, & injuries from years of playing soccer.

Thanks, guys :D

I used to get shin splints real bad and they still creep in from time to time, but I have a battery of stretches that I do a couple times a day and it keeps them at bay. I remember doing my first mile out of nowhere and it was, like, the craziest thing ever. I was off work and I just ran from the fire station on the corner back to the house. It'd been the farthest I'd ever run in my entire life. Now, it's nothing :D Gradual increases help everything.

Congrats, good job! I used to run the local 10 miler and my legs felt like lead weights when I was done. I hate running on roads, I like trail/cross country running though.

I could never run worth a sht. Probably because of my asthma. Put me on a bike though and I'll go forever.

All throughout middle school and then high school I did cross country. Most I've ever run due to that is 12 miles. Senior year in high school though I became a Sprinter and did that all throughout college. Sprinting is more fun IMO. Just as hard though, in different ways.

I don't do this stuff, but my bosses daughter just ran an ultra-marathon last week. 50 miles, I think she came in somewhere around 10-11 hours. Crazy s***.

That's awesome. I always like to run, but my body never keeps up the way I want. Maybe another year's workout will change that a little bit.

Most definitely crazy sh!t. One of my previous co-workers wife ran ultra marathons too. A "normal" workout run would be around 30 miles, insanity.

My friend just did a full Ironman. Took 16 hours. I don't think I could ever be an ultramarathoner (50k+) because that training just soaks up all your time.

Did you do this on purpose or was someone chasing you?

I'm marathon training. Started in July last year.
