NeoGAF user DemonNite, who is also known to be a developer at Sony (though his true identity is nothing less than a solid secret), just threw out a rather big tease regarding Sony E3 2014 press conference. He published a great edited video clip, titled ā€œPlayStation Legacyā€, taken from the hit movie called Tron Legacy. The video can be seen at the bottom of this post.

The interesting part is when he properly pointed out the tease in the video by stating; ā€œEaster egg in webm.ā€ The eagle-eyed NeoGAF users did not take much time in figuring out what the Easter egg was. Labeling Kaz Hiraiā€™s disk shown in the video as ā€œE3 2014 megatonsā€, DeamonNite clearly teased upcoming big surprises at Sony E3 2014 Press Conference.

The disk with the label is attached to the back of Tronā€™s version of Kaz Hirai, who is ready to walk through the door towards Sony E3 2014 Press Conference. DemonNite also added five beeps to the video that can be heard clearly when disk is attached. The beeps are no where to be heard in the original movie clip so the most appropriate and logical explanation that NeoGAF members came up with is that DemonNite is teasing five ā€œmegatonā€ announcements that will surprise the fans watching Sony E3 2014 Press Conference.

A group of members also suggest that the video also includes a sixth, fairly loud, beep which can be heard when the camera angle changes. This possibly means that in addition to the five announcements, Sony possibly has a bigger ā€œmegatonā€ announcement to end it all.
All in all, the tease suggests that Sony E3 2014 Press Conference is going to be anything but less full of surprises.

As always, DemonNite is a developer at Sony, but he is not an official representative, so his words are of no good unless Sony itself backs them up. This all should just be taken with a grain of salt. However, it could be a controlled tease and considering DemonNiteā€™s track record, this video very much deserves at least a degree of credibility.

E3 sounds like it will be off the hook. I can hardly wait.

No no, this is a ridiculous exaggeration. The disc beeps five times, and therefore people are leaping to the conclusion that "five beeps" equals "five megatons." Really, really stretching it.

lol. Yeah, let's rely on GAF members for logical deductions.

Do not buy the hype. You will be disappointed.

The word "Megaton" is getting bandied about a lot for this E3. Hopefully it's true- for everyone- but I've been fed hype for nothing special before. Fingers crossed, because I really, really want to get excited for some amazing games!!

Ms Is actually pretty good at announcing and releasing shortly after.

I hope that holds true.

If this turns out to be true...I don't even. I mean really sounds like a huge stretch but we'll see. I love how any "new" announcement is now a megaton as well...sheesh!

Yeah, but I think that may change now that they aren't in the drivers seat. They will show what they have for this year but I think some teases are coming whether new IP or GoW4 announce, etc. This is a PS4 thread tho so back on topic....
My biggest hope for the Sony conference is that Last Guardian is re-announced for PS4 (only) and coming next year (or this year). Talk about development hell.....this game is coming close to Duke Nukem territory :). That would be a "mild" megaton for Sony. I say mild because the game has been in development and talked about for years and many actually expect this to now be a PS4 game coming sooner rather than later. I just hope it doesn't die.

Equating 5 beeps to 5 megatons is absurd. I could do a similar prediction.... 5 beeps means out of all the games shown only 5 will release on time.

Megaton is obviously subjective, I doubt they'd bother with the movie theater promotional thing unless they had a few big things to show though.

We'll be lucky to get one megaton let alone 5, based on insiders downplaying this year's Sony E3.

I expect a big Destiny trailer, they know multiplats are their bread and butter right now.

I hope one of the "megatons" is another big plastic toy gun I can aim at my TV for no apparent reason, and another is that "read books on your console" device we never got!!11!111!!1!1!!!11!!!!!!!one~~1!1!1!!1

I was going to say, most of the insiders have been saying to keep expectations in check.

I hope they have a few some-things. Right now only Infamous:SS is interesting on the platform.

I'm prepared for the worst.

More remakes
More multiplats
More trailers of games we already know about (Uncharted will be hype at least)
More indies
More F2P games
Maybe Project Beast

Nah, my member is hanging 5% to the left, so that is definitely 5 megatons.

;D

Stop being reasonable.

No, we know Sony's 1st parties are working on a lot of unannounced games. The question is whether they're ready to announce them yet.

I'm sure they have something as back up to show or tease depending on how MS's conference goes.

Yup, E3's are always disappointments if you expect things like "MEGATON!", that term alone should be synonym to disappointment by now. On top of that the personal glorification of Kaz Hirai and Phil Spencer feel a bit.. odd to me. It's even worse than the silly jokes from Reggie Fill's Aimes. I really just hope it won't be a disappointment for Sony fans or MS fans... but they are building expectations so high.. that it will probably be a HUGE crash-landing for a lot of people coming of their E3 Highs.

couldn't the 5 beeps mean some 5th sequel in a game franchise?
Oooh that could very well be. But what really big game would that be and if a 6th beep can be heard.... could it be GT6 will be shown? That would be really nice :).

Remember. Five possible megatons means possibly zero megatons. The title is absolutely fitting. :)

GTA 6 shown already? No way. GTA 5 hasn't been out a year and they're not done throwing out DLC and other stuff yet for it. Still a lot of money to be had in that game.

Curious to see what these megatons are (if they exist) and how the internet will respond if Sony has indeed "moneyhatted" an exclusive since that is something only the evil MS does.

The Only AAA game that actually lived up to the HYPE last gen too me was GTA V. Other than that, games have been good but nothing over the top amazing.

Think about Every exclusive right now on Xbox One + PS4, games are good but nothing really ground breaking......

E3 is mostly built off of HYPE. Even all the Uncharted series for PS3 while being good, were still plagued with a lot of problems. Tomb Raider imo was better than all 3 of the Uncharted series. Too me the best games for Xbox might be Halo and for PS4 who knows.......

Wii U should be really awesome with Zelda, a new Mario game and more footage of Smash Bros.

As of now and I hope I'm wrong, I really see nothing that will bring the casual crowd on board or satisfy the hard core. Witcher 3 while amazing will probably not run that good on consoles....

Watch Dogs on Wii U should make an appearance as well. Personally I think Wii U will have the best Show

5 beeps for how many HD remakes they will announce just for this year.
