'Star Trek' TV reboot being considered for CBS

A reboot of the hit show "Star Trek" is being considered for CBS and fans love the idea of the show coming back. On Saturday, The Spread It shared about this possible show. The rumors are going wild and it could happen as early as late 2015 or early 2016. Nothing has been confirmed or denied at this time, but the rumors are going crazy.

Robert Meyer Burnett is all over Twitter talking about it. He is the executive producer of the "Late Show with David Letterman" and the president and CEO of Worldwide Pants. Burnett shared saying, "Folks...the @LRNews STAR TREK story only reports CBS wants to make a new TREK series for television, and @BryanSinger is a good choice..." He then continued saying, "Everything else @LRNews reported was backstory, and was all TRUE. They DID NOT say I was involved (although the AXANAR team is SOLID)."
There is a lot of talk that it could be a reboot of the old show or even a newer version of "Star Trek." For now fans are just hearing all of the rumors and getting excited. Nobody knows how it is going to turn out yet or if it will even happen at all. Everyone is really hoping that it does end up coming back and you know the fan base would be there for this show immediately. This could end up coming out soon if they can get everything going the way they are hoping.

There is a huge pitch for the re-boot written by J. Michael Straczynski & Bryce Zabel. If you are a die hard fan, you can read about it all at this link. You will get to find out exactly what they are planning.

I think they should aim for a new generation of Trek Fans by going the teen route...something like a Star Trek Academy based show.

I don't think there should be a reboot, but I like Mister's academy idea. After all the shows, there's a ton of history to dive into. Include other species as cadets too so we can have a really diverse cast. Could be the best of both worlds and a little Ender's Game-esque if done right.

The only weakness would be that they would be mostly stuck at the academy, however, you could have them doing some sort of on ship internships or acting as some sort of embassador's/liasons to newly found planets or something like that to get them away from the academy on occasion.

Is there any side to space travel in star trek that does not involve official Federation ships? Star Trek seems to basically be the Navy in space. Could a crew on a private independent merchant ship be do-able?

It wouldn't have to be a space pirate western thing like Firefly, but when Deep Space 9 was running it seemed like a way station for all kinds of people trading or doing business. I dunno, just seems like a mostly unexplored part of Star Trek.

I would imagine traveling in space here and there would be part of their training. Maybe the better performers can be chosen for red shirt positions?

Honestly it wouldn't be too hard to do....you could have cadets on various tracks...engineers, security, command, communication, etc....and have them pick the "best of the best" to do an on ship internship together as an intern crew. Maybe they'd be in a remote section of space when an attack occurs and large numbers of crew members are killed forcing them to assume the role of full crew members. Seriously, I could write this s*** for them.

Put me in as a reference. I'll let them know that you're the man.

Of course there would have to be side stories....love interest, back stories about cadets parents being dead, difference between cadets on command track versus "lower tracks"....I mean, c'mon....easy formula to write. Throw in some twists along the way, a few guest appearances of people like Q to keep old school trekkies happy...and boom, success.

Oh, and I'd have a character on the show who appeared to be the archtypical hero, good looking and strong like Kirk, with great leadership qualities like Piccard

then I'd kill him off at the end of the first episode to throw everyone off.....if Game of Throne has proven anything it that people love the unexpected...Star Trek the TV shows went too formulaic....they need to do the unexpected
