I agree that Star Wars has been bad as much as its been good and people act like when its bad it ruins their childhood but that being ridiculous doesn't mean its time to lower expectations beyond normal shows or movies.No. For the most part people have this impossible "Star Wars" standard in their heads that never existed. As if any of the originals didn't have massive plot holes, caricature characters, etc. No show is going to take us back to our childhoods. Things like the prequels were just bad, to the point of being meme worthy. After that things have been a lot better. Far from perfect when it comes to the later movies, but still great to see Star Wars back on the screen.
The last planet was really cool (with the cyberpunk vibes). This one is desolate, and that's where much of the entire story has ever taken place. I'm also pretty sure they were going for the dark vibe for obvious reasons. People hated them doing entire scenes in front of green screens, now the real sets aren't good enough either. Maybe they should have fought on the deck of a spaceship? Or an ocean? Or in front of a giant sand dinosaur? Or in front of a melting platform in lava? People also blasted the characters for a chase through buildings too so that's wrong too I guess?
One things the prequels showed is that less CGI is often better. That scene is about two characters and it doesn't need a thing added to it to give it any kind of importance.
Plus I blast them when shows are lacking any kind of depth. Boba Fett was an obvious example of filler to keep subs going. That show served no purpose and was just mindless filler that wasn't even good filler. It was obvious they threw enough Mando in there to keep people interested. It was one of their few real clunkers. This show has already given me a couple really epic Star Wars moments to add to all the rest.
They started in a desolate planet but the series didn't stay there. That is a problem given that you have a huge universe and you decided to spend significant type of boring desert planets. Real sets are great but real sets can be bad too. Its also just straight up shot poorly.
You don't need lots of CG to make something feel like space or alien. The show shouldn't look like it was filmed in your backyard.
Boba Fett at least has the sand people flash back that at least tells a story. Too much of all the shows is dependent on fan service and Baby Yoda doing something cute. I don't get criticism of Boba Fett having no depth if that complain doesn't apply to Mandalorian. But that is ok I don't need Mandalorian to be deep. Its fun and it has good production value. Obi Wan looks like you something you used to find it on SYFY.
